Spotify is purposefully taking Epic’s route, good luck with that !
Apple will full crash against the wall soon, i will LMAO once Tim Cooks surprised and distorted facial expression shows up in the news.

Not sure why any artist would be on Spotify with their crappy streaming payout rates, but that is just me.

As far as competition, Apple is not the only market out there. It is not even the dominant smart phone platform.

I wish Apple would instead place its focus on improving the UIs, catalogues, suggestion algorithms, etc., for apps like Books and Music.

Make Books and Music better or at the very least on par with rivals like Audible, Spotify, etc., and then offer them in a bundle that beats the competition on price.

You’re not going to kill off Spotify as long as it’s the first choice of the mainstream music listener.

This will just underline the somewhat faulty point Epic was trying to make.

By the same token of Apple playing hardball here. Spotify is refusing to sell the audio book to customers making a worse experience because they don’t want to miss out on the 30% cut.

They pay 52% of net revenue share in licensing same as Apple does.

It’s a compromise -No other music streaming platform gets you the level of exposure Spotify can get you. The number of free and paid users and daily listens is unmatched by competitors.

This is also why Spotify doesn’t change its rates. It knows artists are sort of forced to stay or risk disappointing fans when they can’t find you on there.

Spotify is like the YouTube of music steaming in part because of the free tier. Except Spotify is even worse on rates for artists(content creators) than YouTube.

Think Apple is being evil? It's a company whose aim is to make as much money as possible. It ain't no charity and it has no legal or moral duty to make a competitor's life easier.

Best Buy wouldn't allow HP to advertise on its in-store display laptops that BB customers could buy them on Amazon.com either.

Some of us may only be reading the headline - or the first paragraph or so.

But read this…

“Spotify designed a nine-step process for purchasing an audiobook, which involved a customer tapping on an audiobook and seeing a screen with a lock over the play button. Pressing on the play button provided customers with a page where they could request information on how to buy a book through an email, and the email offered up a link to purchase the book.”

If this is the case; isn’t this a basic breach of App Store Guidelines?!
So what the WSJ are reporting, if it’s to be true, it’s a non-starter. - What’s the issue? Denied.

Sounds like they believed it complied (and was initially approved).

No please don't stop Apple. The more they push the sooner I finally get sideloading on my iPhone and iPad and can finally install retro game emulators.
Why not run emulation on steam deck instead? Genuine question, I've seen you mention emulation on several other threads, and I personally find steam deck to be wonderful.
