That's a girl on the left isn't it?

The Macintosh and OS X receives almost no advertising or publicity (in Australia at least), let alone any type of aggressive "Sick of all that Windows crap, then try OS X" form of advertising. I'm sure Apple has their reasons...maybe the relatively low-key relaunch of the Switch site is in keeping with them.

) Apple's market share is what, approximately 3% right now? That would be over a 300% increase, which would be far too great of an upward swing to realize in such a short period of time. It's just simple math and economics.

oingoboingo said:Among the 10 reasons given by Apple on their new site to switch, I find number 7 the most interesting:
"Enthusiast. Fan. Addict. Ever hear a PC user described this way? When you buy an Apple computer, you realize why so many people who try a Mac never go back. And then you begin talking to those people, sharing stories, getting advice. The Apple user community enjoys support from all sides: the Genius in the Apple store, the musician on that message board, the photographer next door. They all share a common bond forged by one decidedly uncommon computer."

iTunes Music Library
Even if your music resides on an iPod, you still have to copy it from your PC to your Mac. Your iPod will not let you copy music files from it to another computer. Your iTunes Music Library generally resides in your My Documents > My Music folder.
1. Launch iTunes on your Mac.
2. Select the File menu and choose Add to Library...
3. When the dialog box opens, navigate to the folder on your PC containing all your music.
4. Click Choose. iTunes will automatically organize the songs and place them into the proper folder on your Mac.

This picture on the "connect" page looks horrible!smurphur said:I've never really looked through the Apple switch site much, but this caught my eye as pretty ridiculous: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/cheatsheet/ I surely hope everyone is using their friendly mac cheatsheet. Luckily they warn you to store this in a safe and secure place.

I'd say that the fact that OS X has had these features for 5 years (core audio, quartz(?) ) means that they've been doing the right things. They've just got to be careful not to let it stagnate.BGil said:Windows x64 is running ridiculously fast and Vista Beta 1 runs even faster in addition to having real color management and a low latency audio system for the first time. It's not looking good for Apple.
Maybe it's because this is the first time I've had the feeling that Apple is sounding snobbish. I've always liked the fact that they're better than Windows, and they know it - but they don't really have to point it out. Now the language they're using is just ridiculous. Things like "well, you wouldn't be switching if Windows was easy to use, would you?" - this sing-song semi-sarcastic language just makes me feel sick.Diatribe said:Same with Apple Germany. Maybe they are trying to say that macs work with things other than items on the bleeding edge of technology???hob said:This picture on the "connect" page looks horrible!![]()
UGH! SO 80's... What are they trying to say? Macs work with old crap, cameras and the iPod mini?
Infact the whole thing is out of date. They should really work on that section.

Maybe it's only on the American site because the rest of the world would instantly lose respect for Apple if they saw it!
Exactly. Up until now (or when Vista comes out next year) Apple has dominated the music and print domains because of superior technology. They won't have that after Vista is released.hob said:I'd say that the fact that OS X has had these features for 5 years (core audio, quartz(?) ) means that they've been doing the right things. Oh, and Mac OS X doesnt scream hardware detected every time you plug in something as basic as a keyboard. Just start typing.
Mac OS X will not interrupt your work or play nagging you to clean up your desktop
Nor will it lead you through an endless conversation with a so-called wizard.
