have a bite - now its gonna costa ya - Personally I think its true of all systems.

Windows - always headachesand new drivers, upgrades etc

Mac - Once you go Mac, you'll never go back ( :) )

Linux etc - Learning curve

So I guess I like it :)

1st one. Really great!
2nd one. OK.
3rd one (this one). Not funny.

Like many others, I'd really like to see Apple "Think Different" and come up with a brand new AD concept. But the flexibility (communication / message / production wise) of this concept is clearly hard to beat.

Does this not contradict bean counter?

What, you mean in one ad he is control of where the money goes and decides to spend it all on advertising, and in the next he is complaining they spent all the money on advertising?

Don't bring logic into this!

Are they advertisements or something else?

Very nice, but does anyone else find it ironic that Apple is making fun of Microsoft for spending money on advertising, and at t he same time Apple has came out with three advertisements in one week. If any of you don't I sure do. Not only that, Microsoft's ads don't bash the competition; not saying I like them, but still.

You could look at them as advertisements which on the surface they are, but you could also look at them as attempts to throw off MS management team. The question is are the adds directed at the consumer or MS.

For Apple it could be money well spent if they bring out three or four adds a month that cause MS to make a public spectacle of themselves. Further if it promotes on bad management decision at MS a month the adds are doing a wonderful job. Call in psychological warfare if you want but I see the adds as a way to throw MS off as much as they are an attempt to appeal to the consumer.

ps
What is funny here is Apple could soon be on the receiving end of such advertising as iPhone is and open book of issues.

If :apple: hadna spent so much on these ads, they coulda put FW into the new MacBooks.

What is ironic, is that Apple has spent, comparably, very little per ad, all of which are short, entertaining, revealing, and to the point. The ads have been quite effective in stirring the masses into the Apple Stores.

As far as FW in the Macbook goes, this was clearly a move to sway more consumers/prosumers toward the Pro line. Hopefully, USB3 will live up to its expectations, as it is sad to strip away FW before a viable replacement has become available.

Quite. They're hypocritical at best. Does no one rememebr "Sorry - we're delaying our OS, because we've been too busy making a cell phone"

We moan about politicians conducting negative campaigning, but because these are 'funny' and it's Apple, they can do what they want.

This isn't negative campaigning. You're taking it way too seriously.

A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

A four month delay, compared to nearly six years for Longhorn/Vista - not a worthy comparison. Besides, the work on the iPhone's mobile OS X platform actually indirectly contributed toward, rather than distracted from, Leopard's overall refinement. Had Vista lived up to 1/100th of its hype, (WOW) MS would be far less vulnerable to ads such as these.

If you can come up with an ad demoing OS X that people would stop, watch, and enjoy, please feel free...

Now why would I do that? Since OSX is so good it should be easy to sell it on its own virtues, not by vilifying its competitors.

And yet Apple haven't done this for quite some time have they?

I wonder why.

The latest ads are kinda ironic. You would think Apple would take some money out of their huge billion dollar piggy bank and fix Finder.

The new multithreaded Finder in Leopard already exhibits significant improvement. Snow Leopard's Cocoa Finder, however, will make dramatic improvements, and with not too much of a hit on the ol' piggy bank.

They are ads, they are meant to be funny, and grab the user's attention, they are tongue in cheek, meant to entertain people, some people take things too serious, don't y'all have any sense of humour? :p

Who's making a comparison? I'm not. Why why why do people say "Well Microsoft did X" when trying to defend the actions of Apple. It's as if it doesn't matter WHAT Apple does, as long as it's different to what Microsoft does, it's OK.

These were funny, for a while, a couple of years ago. Now they're old, unfunny, and it seems Apple are expending considerable energy in trying to reinforce the very stereotype they should be getting away from.

Your previous statement about Apple being hypocritical did allude to a comparison:
They're hypocritical at best.

Everyone's entitled to his/her opinion. I find them increasingly clever, entertaining, and effective.

The points they try to make are not valid anymore. They were true 2 yrs ago, when vista indeed crashed and was slow. But if you install it on the right machine, it's not bad at all.

And Photoshop CS4 x64 just damn fast. Too bad it's a windows exclusive.

This one was pretty funny. I actually saw it on TV before I saw it here.

I was wondering what happened. I heard about two new ads, but three?!?!?!?! Wow.

Not as funny as bean counter, but still good.

I agree, the ads are still funny but they seem to be getting a little old. We need to see something fresh and exciting. The Sienfield ads very bad from Microsoft but I'm a PC ads aren't bad. Actually there is only one I'm a PC ad from Microsoft and it seems to getting a little outplayed as well.
