How I wish that mine would update. But they don't. So what's the use of rolling out updates when nobody that I know of actually receives them.

SJ would just love that.

Haven't seen an update since .276 using a multitude of Apple iOS/iPadOS devices. Maybe this a through e roll out has been very limited.

Where did you see any AirTag update being withdrawn?
Not a difficult path to follow when they release a firmware update, no-one seems to receive it, then shortly thereafter (within two weeks) another minor revision is released.

Edit: Me, I think they should be identifying all of their Beta / Seed testers that have AirTags and distributing them there first for the initial external smoke testing, so there's fewer mis-steps like this.

They released a firmware update for 1% of users, so "no one" seems to receive it. Then shortly thereafter (within two weeks) raised that to 10%. Today they raised it to 25%. It's still the same update as August 26th.

They didn't screw it up, withdraw it, and release a new one; they are doing "initial external smoke testing".

If so, I wonder what the purpose of doing it this way is.

Every single AirTag of mine is still showing 1.0.276, like my Apple TV remote shows x0061

I love how much of a nothingburger these articles are. "Your AirTags are going to update, or maybe they did update. Either way you can't stop it. No, we don't know why, but the new version number is newer than the old version number."

Why bother? Seriously? What documented features do you think your AirTags are missing by not having the very latest number according to MacRumors? Mine are working perfectly, not on the latest number as posted here last I looked. Don’t you have better things to do with your time? One of mine is.291, the other two are .276. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess you haven’t heard of the battery drain issue many are having with the Find My App running in the background with AirTags huh? Including me!

I have two that I purchased at the same time. Not sure the original firmware version but one is .255 & other is .276 they are two months old.

I want the ability to change the sound it plays when you click “play sound”. Just like the find my phone sonar sound it is like they picked the hardest sound to locate. It should be a constant beep/tone. The sonar “ping” is “cute” but when you are trying to find out where it is coming from you can can’t tell if you are moving to it or away from it.
