But he rated the article negative. You could feel upset about it, but that doesn't mean it's anyone else's fault. Do you honestly think it's a good thing to leave bad reviews of a product just because you bought the previous one at the wrong time?
Seems like an awful lot of drama for something that's not really a very big deal. Put me in the "who cares" category for articles rated negatively. :)

Amen brother. Just as I never missed the waxer and paste-up (yikes), I don't miss the wasted time spent with my coolscan & fetch, etc. I ditched Fetch/Portfolio for iPhoto, and when Aperture came out I switched to that. The 2.0 version made it a professional level tool that mostly bumped pshop in my own imaging workflow. 3.0 takes it to another level as well.

Just checked out your dad's website. Beautiful site, and incredible work photographically...
cheers,
michael

thanks, that site's one of mine!

Did your Dad actually take the portraits of all the celebrities on his site himself? There are so many!

A very impressive site and some great photography too. He has met some great people. Nice job

yeah he did. he's done more as well but lost the negs / trannies over the years. obviously this doesn't happen now as I make sure he backs everything up with aperture!

Maybe spending some time to tweak Aperture would have proved more beneficial to your workflow than posing snarky quasi-rhetorical questions.. ;)

I've got over 25,000 images in my library, most of which are RAW 12MB files, and Aperture 2 is plenty zippy on a 13" MBP (the one with the slower proc. to boot!). If you play with your preview/thumbnail settings you'll enjoy quantum jumps in speed and feel with Aperture. Heck, I was able to use my old MB Air with Aperture 2 without pulling my hair out.

snarky quasi-rhetorical questions? There you go with the 10 cent phrases:D

I have a question regarding the demo. If I were to download the demo and decide to purchase it, would I have to uninstall then reinstall hence loosing my photos/changes?

No. You just enter your license code when you start the demo version. You don't need to do another install at all.

In fact, I don't even have a retail version. I installed the demo and purchased the update as a license key delivered electronically.

No, you just register the demo version (and then check Software Update for patches).

But it will stop working if you don't eventually register it. So don't leave anything halfway done in it that you wouldn't be prepared to do from scratch.

Now I just hope they made the "Aperture Library" compatible with PHD, I won't hold my breath though.

I finally got so sick of this that I had to work out a way of getting around it. I found that if you rename your aperture library to remove the .aplibrary extension and then create a symlink to it that has .aplibrary on the end PHDs will work perfectly. It is a kludge but it is worth it to have it work at last.

I've written more complete instructions here: http://deepport.net/archives/os-x-portable-home-directories-and-syncing-flaw-with-bundles/

This would apply equally to iPhoto libraries and PHDs.
