This worked for me...post #171, thank you @DotCom2 and everyone else for the help!
Same. I can no longer use the Siri remote to adjust volume on my HiSense U8G. This was never a problem before the firmware update. I tried holding down the volume up + home button as mentioned above but it didn’t work. The light dot on the Apple TV device itself does blink when I press the volume buttons, but no response. Interestingly, when I try using the remote in the Control Center on iPhone, the volume icon on the top left is grayed out.
Darn - I looked this up online before and found a post where somebody said to press and hold the home button with volume *up*, not volume down. No wonder that didn't work.Try re-setting your remote:

THIS FIXED IT FOR ME. Reseting instructions on Apples website didn’t help me but this didIn my case, I suspected the problem was that the TV had suddenly stopped accepting volume commands from third-party sources given that it wasn't only the Siri Remote that wasn't working, but the iPhone's remote app (which you access through the Control Center) had all volume functions grayed out as well.
I ultimately fixed the problem by unplugging both the TV and Apple TV for a couple of minutes while disconnecting the HDMI cable at both ends (simply restarting the TV hadn't helped). After reconnecting everything, the Siri Remote now works; however, the volume controls on the iPhone (which I hardly ever use anyway) are still grayed out.
Will try this thanksTHIS FIXED IT FOR ME. Reseting instructions on Apples website didn’t help me but this did
