Oh, wow, did not set out to learn anything new today, the dark menu was an option, wow, and yes I will sticking to the dark mode...I did not know I had a choice....

Apart from that duetdisplay is non functional on the 10.13.4 beta..Reported to both Apple, and duetdisplay..

Anyone of you having issue with the dark menu?

Betas will never be okay as a primary OS.
Really depends on what you're using the system for and your ability to diagnose / circumvent problems. Me, I'd rather catch incompatibilities in iOS and MacOS before they go GM. Now, that may mean not loading beta 1 on my primary Mac, but likely subsequent betas.

Also having a viable rollback strategy makes a pretty huge difference....mitigates risk.

I'm glad they are dropping support for 32-bit apps. I'll get back the 25Mb of space needed to support both

Windows 10 disk space: 32 bit version 16 GB, 64 bit version 20 GB, 4 GB more
Windows 10 RAM requirements: 32 bit version 1 GB, 64 bit version 2 GB, 1 GB more (not all due to dual libraries)
Windows 10 updates (latest update): 32 bit version 152 MB, 64 bit version 315 MB, factor of 2 bigger, also means updates are going to take around twice as long

Safari has become unusable for me in both 10.13.4 and iOS 11.3. Freezese every few seconds of browsing and i have to force quit. Firefox is my only working browser right now. Thank God i didnt update my phone...then i'd really be screwed.

Seems most people that are using the betas as their primary driver don't ever have back ups and then come back on the forums freaking out. But yes, I agree.

Is APFS more stable now? Or is the same version as in 10.13.0?

Should I format with APFS when installing on a Micron based Crucial SSD? Any experience with APFS on third party SSDs? Thank you very much.

What instability have you heard of?

Ok. Earlier it was said 10.13 was the last to run 32-bit apps without compromise, 10.14 would have the warnings and 10.15 would cut the support. I guess they revised the plan.

What Apple said is that 10.13 would be the last OS to run 32-bit apps to run without compromise. Nothing was said about 10.14, much less 10.15.

Nothing was revised.

I thought the first version of APFS had some issues, plus mine is not the official Apple SSD, but a third party SSD.

So, is it convenient to formatt with APFS a Crucial MX100?
Do I have to enable TRIM as with previous file systems?

Thank you.

Have you uninstalled any extensions that might be causing issues?

10.14 will not allow 32-bit apps. So now they're going to begin warning people in the current 10.13, so when 10.14 is released this September, people aren't surprised when their 32-bit apps stop working.

And we don't really have to wait till 10.14 to see what it will be like when the 32 bit apps are disabled.

You can try this out now to get an idea of what it will be like:

You can disable the 32 bit apps like this in terminal:

sudo nvram boot-args="-no32exec"

Then restart computer.

If you don't like it you can re-enable them like this:

sudo nvram boot-args=""

Then restart computer.

Heh....I think that's one of the least endearing things about this place. Doesn't seem to matter what verbiage Apple puts in front of them, many/most aren't going to read it before they sign up.

"High tolerance for software defects!? I never agreed to that!" :D

Half right. Nothing was said about bothering ordinary users already in 10.13.x. Just aggressive warnings in 10.14.

Macrumors in June: "Starting in January of 2018, all new apps submitted to the Mac App Store must be 64-bit, and all apps and app updates submitted must be 64-bit by June 2018. With the next version of macOS after High Sierra, Apple will begin "aggressively" warning users about 32-bit apps before eventually phasing them out all together."

I just listened to the video and that’s correct. So they’re slightly lengthening the phase in which users are warned (assuming, that is, that this warning will even appear in the final 10.13.3 build).

I don’t see that as a bad thing. The implication in the original post was that Apple broke a promise.

eGPU test time :D
Tried the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box with Vega Frontier Edition GPU. Hot plug works seemlessly with 10.13.4 beta. No need to logout/login after connecting to TB3 port. No more hanging at shutdown or kernel panics at disconnect. System Profiler even correctly identifies the GPU as Vega Frontier Edition.

The last two betas have crashed my MBP...I get a grey screen, Apple logo and no option to enter my password. My system is a bit older (Mid 2010). I’ve had to reset/recover the OS each time. I’m going to have to opt out of these betas.

Adobe has his work cut out for them then, nearly all the Adobe apps running on my Mac are 32 bit.

The only 32 bit apps running on my machine are Adobes...

And its more than "cut out", they haven't fixed some bugs I reported over four years ago and trawling their web-site there are some that others have reported that go back a decade.
