I have a Vision Pro but don't want to install this on it yet.

Can someone check if...
1. AirPlay to speakers now works?
2. Guest mode has multiple profiles now?
3. AirDrop is more stable?

Thanks.
I think AirPlay to speakers already works but it’s hidden somewhere. I saw it on reddit but cannot find it so could be wrong.

You are living in a fantasy if you believe that. Let me remind you, TWO. HOUR. BATTERY. LIFE. Plus not hot swappable batteries. Would trust a doctor wearing this knowing that limitation? They most certainly cannot be tethered to a wall while doing surgery. HoloLens and Magic Leap have already had YEARS in the enterprise space with TRUE AR products. Why would AVP now “open up a whole new world”?
Thank you for your message of hope. I too think that with the right software updates and hardware upgrades, there will be many use cases opening up for Apple Vision Pro and devices like them!

Like you, I doubt anyone will be performing surgery or controlling robots or drones using Apple Vision Pro next week or even the week after that. I hope some developers are thinking about how to turn these ideas into reality.

Who knows what we'll be able to do with our Apple Vision Ultra 2 running visionOS 4.2?

Just another money grubbing cash grab from Apple… FORCING people to buy a $3499 headset in order to download this “free” update. Mutter mutter Tim Apple grumbl. /s
I don't even think it's free if you own the headset. Don't they charge $100 a year to be in the developer program?

These Developer Betas are a total ripoff.

Lots of surgical headlamps operate with batteries. Some units are even tethered to a charging unit. The limitation of the current model of AVP is the clarity and possible magnification of the forward vision and needing some sort of high intensity light in addition. It's not ready for that right now, nor has anyone claimed it is.

What is a volumetric scene?

A volumetric scene is a 3D spatial scene that can exist next to other windows in visionOS. In other words it is 3D but it does not have to be totally immersive and it can co-exist next to other visionOS Apps and windows.

Yeah I made that post on reddit but that's for Bluetooth only, not AirPlay. I have an AirPort Express hooked up to my stereo system which I've been dying to use with Vision Pro.

Waiting for Intune/Company portal to be available so I can use Teams natively on this thing. Also, the Outlook app is missing. Oh, and support for Yubico 🤞

Hmm. I tried to install the beta version but the option to set up developer betas is not present on my headset. I wonder where it went because it was there when I looked on the first day it arrived. Anyone else who tried to install the beta notice the option is missing?

Have not tried it but in VisionOS in Settings -> Updates there is a selection to "Enable Development Updates" that needs to be enabled.

Yeah, it’s not there. It should be under Settings -> General -> Software Update, right under the Automatic Updates. It was there Friday but it’s not there now. I’m wondering if updating to 1.0.2 erased the option?

You’re trolling or incredibly unimaginative. Why take a spec of a first gen product, assume it can’t/won’t change and use it as a reason to shoot down potential use cases? Even if Apple decided 2h was their target from here on out, it’s a very easy problem to resolve, as others have already pointed out.

For various reasons you can debate are good, bad and/or lame, Apple is good at bring things to the masses. It’s not always about who does something first. It’s also about how you do it. Are you still using a Windows CE phone?

imessage will not work on AVP if you have contact key verification. you must DISABLE it on your other devices to use it on AVP.
the popup message for this during activation was not written well.
i hope this feature comes quite soon.

I know it doesn’t work. I’m hoping it comes in 1.1

SDK notes for 1.1

Accessibility

Known Issues

  • The AccessibilityShortcut preference is reset if VoiceOver is toggled via triple-click of the crown immediately after completing setup. (121466353)
Workaround: Reboot the device after completing setup.

App Placement

New Features

  • Near-user boundary for volumetric scenes have been modified. Users will now be able to reposition volumetric scenes much closer than before, which will enable easier direct interaction with the volumetric scene content. (120926205)

App Store Submission

Known Issues

  • Apps built for visionOS are unable to use the front-facing-camera UI Required Device Capability. (121465787)
Workaround: Remove the front-facing-camera UIRDC for apps built for

Control Center

Known Issues

  • Opening Control Center during tracking fail or while transitioning into Travel Mode will lead to the Control Center indicator disappearing. (119676121)
Workaround: Reboot your Apple Vision Pro.
  • The Control Center indicator might be missing. (121071017)
Workaround: Reboot your Apple Vision Pro.

Mac Virtual Display / AirPlay Wireless

Known Issues

  • Mac Virtual Display and AirPlay are known to conflict when used concurrently. Concurrent usage might result in performance degradation including connection failure. (110475215)

Passcode

Known Issues

  • Passcode UI not obscured in screen recording and sharing. (121482327)

Persona Enrollment

Known Issues

  • Eye tracking may not be accurate after Persona capture until the next time you put on Apple Vision Pro. (121630768)
Workaround: Skip Persona enrollment and select to enroll later.

RealityKit

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: In multi-scene apps, custom Systems created for each scene are now released when the scene is dismissed. (116190653)

Known Issues

  • Assigning a new VideoPlayerComponent to an Entity that already has one will result in a black video screen. (117087641)
Workaround: Reuse the existing VideoPlayerComponent or remove the existing one first before assigning the new one.

Settings

Known Issues

  • Users might not be able to shut down Apple Vision Pro from Settings. (120555236)

StoreKit

New Features

  • New pricing properties price, currency, and currencyCode are now available on Transaction. If an offer was applied to the transaction, a new property offer is available to see information about it (id, type, payment mode), as well as convenience properties offerID, offerType, and offerPaymentMode. (106650768)
  • productDescriptionHidden(_:) API can be used to configure the visibility of product descriptions in ProductView, StoreView and SubscriptionStoreView instances within a view hierarchy. When building with Xcode 15.3, the view modifier can be used even if your app is running on iOS 17.0, iPadOS 17.0, macOS 14.0, tvOS 17.0, watchOS 10.0, visionOS 1.0, or later.
When implementing a product view style, it can support this new view modifier by checking the descriptionVisibility property on the configuration value. (110414819) (FB12261973)
  • You can use SubscriptionStoreView to present promotional offers by adding the subscriptionPromotionalOffer(offer:signature:)modifier.
If you’re already using inAppPurchaseOptions(_:) modifier to support promotional offers for StoreKit views, you should adopt the new API instead when your app is running on iOS 17.4, iPadOS 17.4, macOS 14.4, tvOS 17.4, watchOS 10.4, visionOS 1.1 or later. Do not use both APIs to apply a promotional offer for the same view. (115358806)

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: The isEligibleForIntroOffer property and isEligibleForIntroOffer(for:) method now reflect ineligibility in cases where a customer would otherwise be eligible for the offer if they weren’t actively subscribed. This means a customer which is not currently eligible for an introductory offer may become eligible in the future.
Customers who redeem an introductory offer for a given subscription group will continue to never be eligible for another introductory offer in that subscription group. You can detect this case this by checking if any one transaction with a matching subscriptionGroupID has the type property on offer set to introductory. (103604770) (FB11889732)
  • Fixed an issue causing the refund request “Done” button to not dismiss the sheet when using StoreKit Testing in Xcode. (117482750)
  • Fixed: Apps which configure a SubscriptionStoreView to show terms of service & privacy policy links with automatic or URL destinations will now open the URLs in the default browser. (120985657) (FB13540404)

SwiftUI

New Features

  • Immersive Space displacement value added to the Environment, indicating when the system has moved an Immersive Space from its default position for an active SharePlay session. (117694400)
  • Introduced named SwiftUI coordinate space for Immersive Space. Allows cross-window coordinate conversions to an open immersive space. (118422388)

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: Volumes using the defaultSize(_: Rect3D, in: UnitLength)modifier to specify size, will now be the specified physical size at all display zooms. (116579319) (FB13240946)

Known Issues

  • If the display zoom is changed in settings while a volume with a physical size is open, the content might be clipped. (120554484)
Workaround: Closing the volume or force-quitting the app.

UI Frameworks

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: Navigation bar display title modes are now respected and result in a smaller or larger navigation bar title. (114283700)

UIKit

Known Issues

  • UIApplication. setAlternateIconName(_:completionHandler:) is not supported in native visionOS apps. This does not affect compatible apps running on visionOS. (120929653) (FB13535833)

Vibrancy

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: Label prefer vibrancy only supported semantic label color but now it supports all colors.
    let label = UILabel()
    label.preferredVibrancy = .automatic // default value
label.textColor = .red // label will be rendered as vibrant red.

You can tether the included battery back to another larger USB-C battery pack (I think I saw some Youtuber do that).

I've been doing exactly this ever since I got mine last week.
Works just fine.

Although, I did get about 3 hours out of it when watching "Hugo" in 3D, and Alicia Keys in the "Immersive" set, in addition to some productivity time. I was impressed.

Of course, more battery life is always welcome; but, I haven't felt hindered yet.
Good thing is that they could always release newer chemistry or larger batteries that can be plugged into the headset.

Oddly, as I started downloading this update, visionOS started going completely haywire.
All apps, including the Settings app, Safari, Messages, and Mail would not work properly; even after restarting the headset.

I had to leave only the Settings app open, let the visionOS update download, then install it.
Once that was completed, things were back to normal.

No immediate changes noted yet.

The article was updated from what was there a few minutes ago to mention enterprise options whereas previously it didn’t know what was in the beta. Hopefully that’s not all that was there or else it’s not worth installing it.

I’d imagine the release includes bug fixes as well. Given how early things are in the visionOS release cycle I think that even if there aren’t many new features installing these betas is going to be worth it.
