Does anyone know the build number of the public beta or if it's beta 2?

Wonder if any longstanding bugs have been fixed. I think I'll just wait til 12.7 or so.
You bet they dont, as developer I’m very active in Feedback assistant and have dozens of bugs opened, some of them since High Sierra. Many of them quite frequents as the Quicklook jumping window with several screens.

And how do you change the icon to anything you like? I ask because I don’t think you can do it.

Simple drag and drop simplicity of macOS. Just right click on app, select Get Info, drop a .icns file onto the icon shown in the Get Info pane. That’s it.

Other image files can work as well. However since QuickTime is a default app, I believe you’ll have to temporarily disable system integrity protection in order to change it.

Beta 1 had severe Bluetooth issues, so my trackpad disconnected frequently until at a certain point it didn't work at all, worse, a wired mouse wasn't working as well, so the Bluetooth issue affected wired mouses as well, this was widespread,, still not solved for 100%.
Slow Safari, crashes a lot, new Tab system really sucks big time.
My blocking ways to block adds don't seem to work at all.
Little snitch also doesn't seem to work reliable on safari.
beta 1, a certain process crashed continuously, I saw the notification about 20-30 times an hour.
Lots more.
Strange especially when they state in release notes that BT was fixed in beta 2:

Resolved in macOS Monterey 12 beta 2

  • Fixed an issue where input devices disconnected unexpectedly. (78421734)
Bluetooth issues alone are enough to keep me off from the beta train 🙄

I don't have the BT issue anymore, I read a post from someone with issues on b2 here in this very thread.

i can’t get my 2020 iMac 27” to boot beta 2 from external SSD. Beta 1 did work. Guess I’m off the beta train for my iMac (external SSD works as expected with my 2017 MBP 15”) until at least beta 3.

I'm on Big Sur 11.5 public beta and noticed that Software Update is pushing me Monterey PB. Is there some way to skip Monterey betas and stick with Big Sur betas only?

I’m very interested in the new privacy features, but I feel like the other new options are something I wouldn’t know I needed until I actually use them.

Yes. Ignore the Monterey beta prompt. When the “other updates available…” link shows up under the Monterey cell, click that to get to the option to update your Big Sur beta.

I have Monterey Public Beta and running in my MacBook Air and its running frosty. I went on with my day and everything has been working properly. I went from Big Sur 11.5 and I had no issues with it.

Some mentioned time machine not working in Beta 2. That would be a great reason to not upgrade. I mean, you would want to back up before going to Beta 3 at the very least... in case upgrade breaks. But, if you can't backup, you're rolling the dice.

The Apple TV application doesn't have view menu active when playing owned content. Such things like enter Full screen have to be done by clicking on the buttons of the window or resizing the window. Did not see anything related to this looking at macOS Monterey 12 Beta 2 Release Notes.

Note have observed multiple times sometimes you start the TV app and play content that it unexpectedly crashes and you have to relaunch it. Then it might run for the length of what you are playing. (using a 24" M1 iMac)
