Apple today released MacBook Pro Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.0 for the 2015 MacBook Pro, which fixes a storage firmware issue that could cause data corruption in rare cases.

Apple recommends that all customers who have a mid-2015 MacBook Pro download and install the update. It can be acquired from the Mac App Store on affected machines or directly from Apple's support site.

The mid-2015 MacBook Pro includes all 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models that were released in May of this year. As MacRumors readers have pointed out, the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro released in March is an "early-2015" model.

Glad they fixed this. I ended up having to reformat the other day due to this issue, so I'm hoping that I won't have to go through that again...

I just got mine opened up today, and saw this. Great computer so far, loving the force touch. Experimented with 10.11 for work, and it ran a little heavy (fans were atrocious due to spotlight indexing...weird... there's nothing on it!!!!). Back to 10.10 and it's a beauty.

WRONG

The 13inch Force Touch is EARLY 2015 - it does not need this update.

I think "Mid 2015" *doesn't* include the 13" force touch; that calls itself "Early 2013" and, indeed, there's no update apparently available.
I have 15" rMBP that came off on May, yet still there's no update for me in te App Store ;)

I just have "MacBook Pro" in the "about this mac" window, it doesn't say anything like Mid-2015 or something like this. Is this normal?

Look again. This is the MBP the update is meant for. I just updated mine.

That is weird. Mine says MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

You're talking about rMBP, while I was talking about MBP (non-Retina) :)
I was referencing an earlier quote talking about the 13" that the guy was mistakenly thinking was from mid 2015. I was simply correcting him stating it was for the 15" rMBP.

Okay, so... Any idea why I don't have this update in the App Store? :p

And I saw that after changing language to English my "about this mac" window correctly reports him as 15-inch Retina Mid-2015. I guess that strings for my native language aren't translated yet ;)

Can either of you elaborate on this? What symptoms occurred? How did you know to reformat?

MacBook started to behave strangely... couldn't open apps like iTunes... or System Console... had to close running apps, some could save their documents, restart then boot loop at the Apple Logo. Started in recovery. Disk Utility told me to recover as much data as possible then reformat. Went to Apple Store, they found nothin.

This Update NOT All rMBP Mid 2015 15" Model, Only BoardID Mac-06F11F11946D27C5 and Mac-06F11FD93F0323C5.
You can check BoardID follow command
ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep board-id

Rather confusing.

Purchased my 13" rMBP 2 weeks ago. Says he's an Early 2015.

Can someone explain the whole Early/Mid thing?

Okay, I downloaded this update from the website just to check if I'm eligible and I'm not, it's strange.
