Oh well... Tim Apple only cares about getting your money not fixing issues. 😂I'm sure it won't fix "Sorry this is taking too long", "I didn't get that", "Audio cutting in and out when play everywhere is asked", "There is a problem with Apple Music", "Siri ignoring you completely" "Volume suddenly gets louder then lower if you have Dolby Atmos enabled"...the list goes on and on.
I had the same experience. Mine was sitting in a closet unplugged for months and I read about him on this site and gave it a shot. The HomePod works great now.one of my OG HomePods died last year. I sent it to Nic and he fixed it for under $100. Highly recommended! You can watch him fix it live on YouTube. I would do it again when my other OG eventually dies. It’s like a stupid 10 cent resistor…https://nicsfix.com/
I have two Gen 1s in my kitchen as well - work as a stereo pair and serve me well since day one. Great small speakers with astoundingly powerful bass for such a small device and still extremely dynamic and good sound quality for what it is - it is by no means a high end stereo system but good enough for listening to music and don't sound embarassingly crapy.I’ve been mostly lucky with my HomePod Gen 1’s running stereo.
same here. 17.2 seems to be the first update in a long time without issuesI'm keeping my HomePods on 17.2 & letting my Apple TV stay on 17.3. My Home app has been the most stable without the HomePods tripping over themselves to be the Home hub.
But it can be repaired! It's down to a worn out capacitor. It's quite common on amplifiers for this to happen, however, generally on amps with poor quality capacitors. It does make me wonder about Apple hardware quality....Sadly hardware defect.
Hate to concur, but the same happened to a friend, and neither OS updates nor Apple was able to fix the (hardware) issue. Meanwhile, I'm fortunate that myOG Pod keeps clicking along nicely, mostly as a solid AirPlay speaker in the dining room because it's been supplanted by a new kitchen HomePod.Sadly hardware defect.
how's airplay working for you?
I read on Reddit that 17.3 broke it.
mine is working fine but yesterday evening it was not! It would not connect or transfer songs.Whoa... that is terrifying news! I guess I'll be staying on 17.2 until more people chime in.
40 posts and I'm not quite sure I should update my 2 OG's based on the chatter. I wish Apple would be more detailed about the release notes.
.2 has been wonky for me though 🫣
