After a bazillion updates, the HomePods are in some ways worse than 5 years ago. They've burnt my trust on smart speakers and WiFi speakers.

I’ve not had any issues with my ecobee, before or after update of the homepods.
The problem I’m experiencing is not related to the update. It could be a HW failure in the Ecobee. The remote sensors were junk and failed within 1-2 years. My thermostat is about 3 years old now. What about yours?

I am going on about 1.5 years right now, and FWIW the technical support is pretty decent. Perhaps they could give some guidance for you? I had to contact them because it was picking up my furnace wiring as a heat pump instead. Basically they told me how to do a manual override to get it set correctly.

My Ecobee was the first thing I installed when we bought our house 8 years ago. I recently moved it from one zone to another. I recall some minor glitches in the early days, but honestly, we haven't had a moment's trouble with it since.

I did the full reset procedure. I’m not sure what else they could do, but I’m not interested in spending more time on it. Thanks though.

That’s good. Maybe it is just a software issue. Is that just a thermostat, or also the sensors? Anyway…Ecobee won’t let you use their app locally (block thermostat from connecting to internet), so I’m not interested in using them. Unfortunately not many HomeKit options out there for thermostat.

I added some sensors a couple of years after I got the thermostat. They're...fine...? I honestly have never figured out how to use them to properly balance the temperature across my house. (My house was built in the 1930s and the HVAC is a Frankensteinian horror show of overlapping zones. I have four different thermostats!)
