Apple today released Version 2.2 of HP Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6, updating drivers for a small handful of previously-supported models and adding support for several new models. The complete package of drivers, which weighs in at 383 MB and requires Mac OS X 10.6.1, comes ten days after the last update for HP drivers.

A quick glance at Apple's support document listing supported printers reveals two significant updates:

- An update to the driver supporting HP LaserJet 1022, M1120, M1319f, and P2035 models from 1.0.0.148 to 1.0.0.182.
- New support for printers in the LaserJet P1xxx series (P1005, P1006, P1007, P1008, P1505, and P1505n), all using a Version 1.1.0.182 driver.

My LaserJet 1022 wasn't able to print normally, constant out-of-memory warnings, skipped pages etc. Sure hope this one fixes it.

OMG Finally!

My HP P1006 works. Can't believe it too sooo long. Not like this is an old crusty printer!

so the point of these drivers is that when you get a new printer, you just plug it in and it automatically works, right? no need to install anything off the cd that comes with it

Hmmm, wonder if their meaning of 'supported' is like the HP color laserjet 3550N. Yes it works, takes 5 minutes to print, but it DOES work

Sounds like you may have a problem with SNMP traffic, check your firewall.

Here we go again. Let's see if it fixes the LJ 1012 and printing to a 'g' model AE.

I got mine working using an older version of the driver (1.0.4) I think. Now I can't decide if I should install these new supposedly working SL drivers.

LOVE your avatar! Awesome edesignuk.

Aside from that, while I'm pleased that the new driver for my printer (P1505) was released and appears to work, I have empathy for those that still can't use their printer. Come on, HP, support your already-made-a-profit-on-these printers! My opinion of HP went waaay down thanks to this episode.

Nope...I think

I have the exact same setup and the new drivers didn't work for me. I even tried deleting the old drivers, reinstalling everything, repairing disk permissions- the whole deal.

If you managed to get your 1012 working, please share how! :)

same here. though i was able to use the old driver on my imac and not my MBP. i may just leave the imac as-is and install the newest drivers on the MBP...why fiddle with something that works, right?

338 MB of drivers to download and my HP Laserjet 3055 still is not capable of scanning using Snow Leopard. I am super pi***d.

No such luck. Apple really dropped the ball with Snow Leopard printer drivers.

Anybody getting this driver update through Software Update? I know the 2.1 update was distributed that way and I don't see a reason why 2.2 is not showing up.

Is your printer turned on and connected to your Mac when you run Software update? If it isn't, SU won't see it and therefore will decide you don't need the update.
