Sadly, in my experience icloud syncing between all of my devices has *never* been bullet proof. It'll work for a while and then something happens and you have a royal mess on your hands trying to recover from your devices unknowingly having had different data sets for weeks. Apple just can't seem to get this right - they went from the dot-Mac disaster, to the MobileMe disaster, and now we're in the iCould disaster. I want to use Apple's cloud because of their privacy stance, but wish they were as robust as dropbox. Maybe one of these decades...
Exactly. I'd rather stick with LastPass, Bitwarden, or 1password where this working is TOP importance for those platforms. Rather than some tiny little line item feature in a huge portfolio.

Witness the recent disaster that is itunes podcasts and shows just not getting updated. Ongoing for what, a month now? Podcasters getting bombarded by users saying the show isn't updating and there's nothing they can do but tell their listners to switch to a decent podcast app.

File sync in the famous Steve Jobs saying dropbox is a feature not a product? Turns out some features are important enough to be a product.

I moved my contacts and calendars over to Fruux, because that's all they do and they do a great job.

Email in icloud, can't deal with the silent and undocumented spam filter. It just black holes certain things, totally gone. I even found some key words back in the day that if I send an email to myself with them in it the email never made it to my inbox.

I look forward to reading reviews of this and comparing it to real password managers, popcorn standing by.

Is it hinting to a full-fledged password management service/app? It would be well integrated into the OSs and I would definitely be an early adopter. LastPass and others are great, but not optimal.

I can’t get it to send me a “code” when I try to use the extension. What am I missing?

I wish they’d release this first Linux, it’d be handy to have easy access to my personal passwords on my work laptop. Perhaps it’ll run in Wine.

I had the opposite problem. I kept getting a code, but did not know where to enter it. Finally I noticed the iCloud icon next to the uBlock icon in the list of edge extensions. Once I clicked on the iCloud icon I could enter the code.

I was able to use the extension to log onto Fidelity, but not Bank of America, even though I have a password in my keychain for the site. I will try playing with it again in the morning.

iCloud for Windows will not let me enable this. I get the 6 digit code and it just spins and when the window finally closes it still isn't enabled in iCloud for Windows. I actually have an old Mac mini running some old version of MacOS that responds better than this.

Unfortunately "iCloud" has recently become a dirty word
Not that I'm happy with Apple making that change, but it is disingenuous to call out iCloud for this when all of the cloud services already do CSAM scanning and they do it automatically on the server without your control. Apple was the last one to start doing this kind of thing.

Why should they add more convenience feature to please windows users?

You even can’t change your iCloud Drive folder or drive natively, but you have to spam your ssd system drive, when you have a 2 TB SATA drive available.
Apple is holding back features deliberately to „convince“ people changing ecosystems.

I've been using .mac, MobileMe and iCloud for 20 years and my data has happily moved from one device to the next to the next without any issues. I can sit down at any Mac, create a new user account, plug in my iCloud credentials and all of my data is magically there, safely locked in my own user account. This is how it should be, and how it has been for me for 20 years. Puzzles me that others experience syncing problems.

Been using Dropbox for 12 years... also a very trusted cloud service for my Gigabytes of data.

Ugh…. Still can’t sync bookmarks with Edge…
I did a fresh install, haven’t had iCloud for Windows installed on this instance before, and I have an extension in Edge for syncing bookmarks, and it works just fine. It‘s called iCloud Bookmarks and says in Edge settings that it was installed by an external source.

Doesn’t fix the number one problem with this and iCloud in general which is selective iCloud folder sync, it’s all or nothing, so you can’t use it if you have a small partition for bootcamp or a virtual machine, so then you have to use an alternative cloud service, I have the same problem on multiple Mac, I want some data on all but some just on one machine and the cloud, every wwdc I hope for an update and it never comes :(

Can this be used at all in a VM? It says "Windows Hello is not set up", but obviously, my VM doesn't have facial recognition or fingerprint recognition. It seems all "Windows Hello" types of sign in are unavailable.

(It's possible the problem here is that my account is an Active Directory user.)
