Pity I can't buy the product.

Why are Apple spending so much money on advertising when they can't even keep up with demand? Makes no sense.

Because they want to continue not being able to keep up with the demand for more time... ;)

IMO, until the ipad gets this, which is entirely possible, it will remain more of a toy than a tool, and all these commercials will be nothing but fodder for the haters.

there's nothing wrong with toys, and this is a nice one, but these lines about doctors, CEOs, etc., are just plain ridiculous.

Ummmm incorrect. I have a major surgery coming up and the only way me and my doctor could sit down together and review the CT Scan was with my iPad 2 since all CT Scans are done on digital now instead of film. I simply stopped by the hospital and snagged the cd the night before my appointment and loaded it before I left the next day.

My doctor said this was on his wish list, but he couldn't find anywhere in stock.

I think it's an ad for iPad. iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad that comes next. All of them. As a platform. "It's just getting started."

When I hear “It’s just getting started,” that signals to me there is more to come. Which implies that patience will be rewarded. Which further implies to wait for future models. That's obviously not how Apple intended it, but that’s the way I interpret it as a viewer. Could just be me though. I am a very happy owner of many Apple products by the way—including an iPad 1st gen—so I’m not being biased against Apple by any means. JMO

Steve loves his magic. I bet he always wanted a magician at his party as a kid. Better than having a clown.

I get your meaning. I hear "it's just getting started" like the Macintosh was just getting started in the mid-80s. I see it a little more expansively than any one model. It's about the next epoch in information technology getting underway.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and yours is wrong.

In Hong Kong,

- if you asked an iPad 2 speculator, it is $$$ and more $$$
- if you asked an iPad 2 user who want to buy one from shop, it is queue up, disappointed, queue up, disappointed, queue up, disappointed, (endless)
- if you asked the Apple Online shop, it is "Ships: Currently unavailable"
- if you asked the retailed shop manager, "you need to buy this with a protected screen at USD70 and case at US60"
- if you asked the retailed shop staff, "No stock....but we have reserved for other customer, do you really want one urgently? Take it, with the crap accessories at USD100."

I don't think they're trying to hint towards anything hardware... I think they're setting up for the changes coming with iOS 5, Lion and the new iCloud stuff.

Can't wait until June... I think we have some very nice surprises coming for all Apple devices.

A great commercial. As a teacher who is getting 30 ipads for next years students I am super pumped. These truly are the future of education and I can't wait to have my students start using them.

You either are not looking or not looking hard enough...

Sure you can. There is a very good app called "Note Taker HD" I use it for all my class notes. I don't carry a paper notepad anymore. That is just one but there are others out there too.

You're getting negative votes on your post just because people here know that Apple will never do that, but I think I have to agree with you. I mean I own the iPad 1 now and love it, but I'd love it even more if I could write on it with a pen. It would be amazing for taking notes. I can't take notes by typing on the thing, I still have to bring a notebook (as in an actual notebook, made of paper lol) or my MacBook.

and if you ask an owner they'd say "why the heck does it still checkerboard on Safari when we try to scroll, that's why we sold the iPad 1". :(

Literally the only reason for my upgrade was the checkerboard lag. Still does it. Maybe by iPad 4 it'll be fixed.

Wow... I rarely run across the checkerboard on mine and when I do it's gone in a second or two. Not obtrusive.

The reason why I didn't buy an Ipad yet. I would only browse on Safari and play games. Something that is available on my Macbook Pro.
Since I am the local technology guru, people are just shy of harassing given the constant barrage of questions just asking if I own one. They are amazed that I do not own an iPad or tablet since they are "popular".

I can afford one but the lack of MKV playback is the deal killer. So that makes it $499 to browse the internet.

Hummm... hardly from what I've seen. I know in my industry, iPads ares starting to be integrated into production systems for monitoring and control purposes. Plus, I have seen doctors using them.

Yes... they are a great toy. But the portability make them great for light duty tasks in business.

If we get a real file system in iOS 5 with could based storage and sharing, the iPad will get even more important in business.

But have you actually *touched* the internet before? Browsing the internet is a really magical experience on the iPad. ;)
