Feels like I am running a windows machine again.

After this update it broke EYETV on my macpro with a Miglia tuner and on my macbook with an elgato diversity tuner!
After loading EYETV, 3 seconds later the stream dies and there is no signal strength.

hmmmm thanks apple for the "update". Any idea how I uninstall this?

The updates installed just fine on my MBP (2008), but after the first reboot my screen had those striping issues for the first time ever. After a second restart those were gone however...

I only wish that one of the next iPhoto updates adds the possibility to show all photos with detected faces that have not yet been named. I really miss that!

Does anyone know if the iWork update fixes the issue of Quicklook for iWork 09 files. I find that some iWork 09 files under Quicklook display a folder listing instead of the file itself.

Re-installing iWork 09 initially fixed the problem, but it was not long before it regressed again.

For some strange reason the update is not coming up in Software Update. I got a message in iWork saying there was an update available clicked the link which lead to Software Update but there nothing came up.

I think this is a achang but now instead of saying "Unknown"on a face it says "unnamed".

EDIT: Now when you name a "unnamed" person and you start typing a name it drags in possibilities from Address Book.

EDIT 2X: WTF you cant view Faces on Facebook albums??

I hope they removed Facebook auto tagging. Worst thing ever. If someone changed a tag on facebook it would mess up my whole Face tags on all my albums! At least make it an option.

An iLife update killed your USB TV tuners? With all due respect, this sounds rather far fetched. Have you considered something else would be the matter?

Current Macs with the Nvidia chipset boards (all unibody laptops) have slightly different power outputs on the USB ports. Some USB powered hard drives and specifically some eyeTV receivers don't work correctly on the low powered ports. The Macs fulfill the USB specification but the USB peripherals don't always. That's why a lot of external 2.5" hard drive cables have another USB plug for extra power.

Try out other USB ports or use a powered HUB and see if it helps.

I know this is off-topic for this thread, but THAT DRIVES ME NUTS!

At my workplace we run XP and the security updates are pushed to us. I get a little bubble that pops up and says "A security update will be automatically installed in 23 hours and 59 minutes." Uh, ok.... I click it and it goes away, and I get back to working until.... POP! "A security update will be automatically installed in 23 hours and 58 minutes." Yaargh!

Back on topic: I do find it a bit comical when Apple pushes multi-megabyte updates (sometimes quite large) with only "minor bug fixes and improvements".

I hate to bust your Windows smashing bubble, but the frequency of those messages for security updates...that can be changed by your IT dept. It sounds like they're using WSUS to push out windows updates. Open a ticket with your IT dept.

I really can't believe that isnt in there already - I'm contemplating having to go through every image in my collection just to check!

I realize that it's WSUS... sadly our IT department is not very sympathetic to our users, all in the name of security (case in point: we're not allowed to change our screen savers!) The problem I have is that the notifications say something like "click here to keep working and make these notifications go away" but they don't go away as promised. There's no point in trying to ignore a reminder that insists on re-reminding you every minute.

Sorry to hear that about your IT dept. Sounds like your boss's boss needs to escalate...or those constant notifications hasn't ticked off the right person yet. It's a simple fix in group policy change those notifications to show every few hours instead of every few minutes. Screen saver thing...well, sorry but I can understand the IT group locking that down. It's a security thing and a professionalism thing.

BTW...keep an eye out on how they're acting on 4-1.

My thoughts entirely.

I use the tuner on my Mac pro every day, it stopped working after I installed the update.
I use another tuner (eyetv diversity) on my new macbook and this has also stopped working after the update.
I guess apple changed something and now it will be Elgato's problem to come up with a software update/fix.

I had this same issue, and rebooting fixed the striping issues on my late 2007 MacBook.

However, I also have other issues. I have several slideshows that I've created, with custom playlists of songs selected from my iTunes library. Now, in iPhoto 8.0.2, these slideshows don't play properly. I had them all setup to fit the slideshow to the music. That no longer works with multiple songs selected. It keeps giving me an error message saying I have to either select fewer photos, or increase my music to more than XXX amount of time. The problem is that I have more than that time amount selected with the songs, but iPhoto won't recognize it as such. And to top it all off, if I tell iPhoto to just show the slides for XX seconds, then the slideshow will play, but if I have 2 songs in the custom playlist, it will play them both at the same time!

Anyone else having this same problem and have any idea how to fix it???

JEFF

Good to know. I shouldn't apply the updates on my Mac mini then.

They FINALLY added the amount of time you need for music when you select the option in the slideshow to "fit to music" it now tells you how much more music time you need!! Wooohooo!!

However, use random order for slideshow is still missing :(

Wirelessly posted (iPod touch: Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

Not happy that I had to republish everything in iWeb after the update. Took over an hour when it needn't have.

Wow --- still doesn't show me the remaining time needed for music in slideshow on my end after the update.

Is there something I am missing in the menu set up in "Fit to Music" that will tell me the time needed to fit pictures to music ?

I've reported this bug so many times and still nothing.

Did you use the bug reporter or just the feedback page? I've always gotten much better results with the bug reporter (except when they mark a legitimate issue as "works as designed" or some such nonsense ). http://bugreport.apple.com/

I assume the feedback page just has a couple of minimum-wage lackeys reading them and tossing them in the trash...

I found a fix, well, the answer is to download an older eyetv version, this then works.
You can then apply the latest eyetv update as per normal, I guess just reinstalling eyetv fixes it. Reminds me of when windows apps used to crash because they were sharing dll's and certain software depended on specific dll versions!

here is the link to force a previous eyetv verson

eyetv://checkforupdates?build=4515

Hopefully this solves all the nasty bugs in iMovie '09. The thing was unusable. Dropping the filmstrip transition between two video clips caused video in the clips not to show up ... argh!!! 3/4 of the time you couldn't drag & drop music into your video, you just couldn't get the drag to start. Hopefully iMovie '09 is useable now.

Very interesting workaround. I will take a look of that over the weekend.
