Grumble grumble, normally I'm accommodating with this sort of stuff but I don't want to lose my Safari data  Sorry little man!

Are you having an issue with it?

No worries, i'm just curious. :)

Its a known bug, also in Safari for MacOS

Thank you for the heads up! That's useful to know. I hope it'll be sorted soon.

PSA: As always, best to wait a few hours to see if there is something in the update that bricks certain devices. It has happened before, it may happen again. No harm in waiting a few hours.

Not installed yet but I wouldn't be too paranoid. These are heavily tested before release. The brick update (which if memory serves only affected a small percentage of people running a certain model of a recently released iPad) was very much a one off.

Remember that there are more than half a billion iOS 10 devices out there. That's double the number of computers running Windows 10, if my shoddy memory or paint-by-numbers mathematics is anywhere on point. This was the company that pushed an update to silently change an entire filesystem on all of these devices; simply a monumental achievement. It would be so so easy to rush a patch and screw up a load of phones.

Apple are terrified and paranoid of the media fallout from failure, especially with iOS updates. They're more scared about it than you are, so they wouldn't have released it if they weren't sure!
Agreed. People don't understand. Apple implemented a whole new file system and did it without a hitch. Simply remarkable.

Once bitten, twice shy. I'm with the newb, I'll hold off on updating my 2 year+ old devices until others have updated same devices and not had issues. I'm not saying Apple purposely slows down old devices with updates, but it's only logical that software with more complex features will slow down phones/ipads/ipods/laptops with older processors. I've had all of those devices over the years, and ALL of them eventually became unpleasant to use due to updates.

Probably, but I think the slowdowns are mostly due to apps updates and apps getting more complex... The new versions of iOS usually cut features down for older devices so that they don't get significantly slower.

Yea, I'm very impressed, the guys must have been crunching Imodium like crisps when they released 10.3 with APFS.
A whole filesystem....flippin impressive.
[doublepost=1494875087][/doublepost]What many seem to forget is that they might have sensitive info about others than themselfs on their phone that might leak if they don't keep their OS up to date.
Just as you have a responsibility to keep a passcode on the phone in case it gets stolen.

I do agree tho that sometime some updates aren't the best, like when Apple introduced encrypted FS that was enabled on the iphone 4. Which kinda killed that device. Would have been better to had that turned off for that particular phone.

After Vault7 leaks, I don't understand why everyone isn't flocking to update first and worry about everything else after

I'd like to think a bit of people are cautious. Apples had some pretty bad updates lately, I have to pray apple's updates won't kill my battery life. No point in stopping security vulernabilites when your phone can barely hold a charge :p
