So true. It seems to get worse. At least the new Microsoft guy is making a lot of good changes (let's not talk about the latest Word-Update-hit-and-run).

I guess they've just gotten too big and they can't uphold their style. If I were Cook I'd look at the management style of Microsoft these days.

I just wish Steve or Forstall were back. (sigh)
So Apple could be a smaller company, with fewer features, shipping 1/3 as many iPhones, and probably a 4 inch screen?

Get over it...you're overblowing small issues like this character bug. I bet most people didn't even know this existed. Even in Telugu, it's an extremely rare set of characters.

I'm sticking with 10.3.3. Still not convinced iOS 11 is ready for prime time. Watched too many friends suffer from various iOS 11 bugs to want to join them. Maybe when iOS 11.3.3 comes out I'll look at it but frankly I think iOS 12 may be a better choice assuming the stick to their goal of quality over new features.

So maybe 11.3 beta three tomorrow? Either way, downloading and installing now!
I sure hope so. The lates beta crashes my Springboard three times a day, AirPods disconnect non stop and Apple Music pauses all the time out of the blue.
I haven't been this annoyed by a beta for a very long time.

I love how every bug is now proof that Apple is letting QC slip and somehow this wouldn't have happened under Steve. These people don't remember when 10.3.0 was erasing people's external hard drives.

Or maybe under their watch, there aren’t so many bugs that requires 11 or more system updates? Even with these 11 updates, iOS 11 still runs like crap on some devices.

Maybe Apple should really think about making their OS more stable?

Or maybe just maybe Apple can get their **** together and ship a good quality OS? iOS since iOS 7 has been filled with bugs and slow downs. I think people are getting use to this now. iOS use to be very stable and fast, but now iOS 11 struggles even with iPhone X.

The trouble is that someone can send you a message with the characters in it (happened to someone I know). It could be mischievous or malicious. Either way, it will crash your app and, perhaps, your device! Better safe than sorry.

I'm pretty sure I'll be ok.

Why would you skip it? It's so easy to update it...stop acting so dramatic.

People can also text you the character and if you don't update, serves you right.

I'll skip it because I don't want to run this update on 8 devices. It will get automatically updated with the next update from Apple, which seems to be almost weekly since the release of iOS 11.

Not sure what you mean by dramatic. I'm pretty mellow here. And I'm not very worried about my friends sending me an character from the Indian language in a text. If some random person does, no biggie, I'll restart the phone.

Hehe, they always vilified Jobs and Forstall as tyrants but I am beginning to think a lot of folks need a little tyrant spread around to keep them in line and out of the ditches.

I have an iPhone X...nothing about it is struggling. Again, you're overreacting. This issue is nothing, the issue with Intel chips was nothing and not their fault, the root issue was patched instantly and caused no damage, etc etc. Name an issue that continues that isn't a feature you want.

It's confirmation bias. You think the OS sucks, so when a never used Telugu sequence crashes iMessages, you conclude it's a buggy failure.

iOS 11 has been flawless for me, particularly since 11.2. No issues at all.

But hey, I came from Android, so you want a buggy/crashy OS, look no further. iOS is LIGHTYEARS ahead of Android in stability and usability.

Why in the sam H3LL can't they at least release them on time (10am PT/1pm ET). They released this at 4:30pm ET. Who is running the place, or are they too busy playing with their new chairs at spaceship campus? #$%^&*()_
so do the update while you are eating dinner or watching halfpipe skiing!

Why does it matter if it was released at 4:30 or 1pm? Bottom line is the update is available. Find something meaningful to complain about.

Take a look at the Windows 10 subreddit on Reddit (and probably other Windows 10 forums around the internet) if you really think that Microsoft is somehow ahead of Apple when it comes to software polish.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

Really. You sounds like typical Apple fans reaction. Where everything is fine with iOS side and it is ******** there in Android.

I only use Android phone and iPad as tablet use. I can tell you that, Android has been fine for years. I can’t say Android is perfect, especially with OS updates, but iOS is light year behind of Android in terms of usabilities. Android is stable enough for daily use right now, especially phones with Android 7 and 8.

iOS 11 has been ******** with my iPhone 6S and iPad Mini 2nd generation. Everything is delayed for couple of seconds and you see everything spring back to actions. Safari and app crashes happens more frequently on iPad than older iOS 10. My iPad Mini 4 runs better on iOS 9 than one with iOS 11.

What I can tell you is that, Android on cellphone is way batter than iOS. Android on tablet still sucks ball and iPad is still way ahead of any Android based tablet.

But stop these Android is ******** comment, you know nothing about Android.

It's 40 MB. Can someone explain to me why does it take almost 30 minutes to install on iPhone X with all that fancy hardware?

Apple’s software only runs on few devices and Apple has done terrible job on making sure their software side. Microsoft has to make sure their software works on all kind of devices, including Apple’s devices. I think Microsoft is doing better job than Apple in terms of software optimization. At least my old 2012 laptop still runs perfectly fine with Microsoft Windows 10.

Can’t help you. My X installed it in less than 10 minutes start to finish.
I timed it. Stuck at "preparing" for 12 minutes, then installing for another 13 minutes. I noticed it long time ago. Updates on iPhone take forever to install. What is the point of this hardware if it still takes forever to install a simple update.

10 Minutes is still too long for measly 40 MB. That does not compute in my head.

Do you have any idea what the update is doing behind the scenes? And why you would time an update? Let it go and forget about it. Perhaps just to come back and say negative things?

Yeah they should have waited and released it tomorrow at 10am, instead of releasing it immediately when it’s ready.
