This beta is only for iPhone X.

Why does the article have a picture of an 8 Plus?

Apple this afternoon released a new beta of iOS 11.2 for iPhone X devices, allowing the latest flagship smartphone to be updated to the latest developer beta.

Registered developers can download the iOS 11.2 beta from Apple's Developer Center or over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.

Apple first released iOS 11.2 to developers and public beta testers earlier this week, but did not provide an iPhone X version. That left customers who had installed the iOS 11.2 beta on their previous devices unable to restore from an existing backup on the new iPhone X.

Is it possible to restore files from a device running iOS 11.2 beta 1 on a device running iOS 11.2 beta 2?

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but if you made a backup of a device that was running 11.2b1, and you now have an iPhone X running 11.2b2, you can restore your iPhone X using the 11.2b1 backup.

I just hope they fix the orientation bug where the iPhone / iPad(s) don't know if they are upright or not.
Also a delete all is not available in notification center for recent notifications.
And is it too late to ask for the music app back from iOS 6? (sigh)

I'm a public beta tester, not a developer, and not seeing this update. My 7+ is on the 11.2 Beta 1. I just received my iPhone X and I'm not sure what to do. I have an 11.2 Beta 1 backup in iCloud and on my laptop. Should I set-up the X as a new phone and then go through the process of adding the beta profile there, then upgrade 10 11.2 Beta 2, then erase and restore the 11.2 Beta 1 backup?
Correct. The beta 2 update will not show up on your 7+. Setup your new X as new. Install the beta profile. Update to 11.2 Beta, then you can either Erase All Content and Setting and restore from your iCloud backup, or just restore from your iTunes backup. Either will work.

Thank you. My fear is that when I set-up the X as a new phone, install my beta profile, and attempt to upgrade, it will only get me to 11.1. I can't tell if the 11.2b2 is for developers only, or public beta testers as well.

I can’t tell you that as I don’t have a X. No harm done though by just setting up as new, installing the profile, and checking if 11.2 pops up.

I got it as a public beta tester. (That said, make sure you have appropriate backups in case you need to downgrade for any reason)

just got my phone from the UPS guy and can't set it up because of 11.2. Anyone know if they are fixing this for the public beta testers ? Or does anyone know how to get around this without erasing anything ?

Sweet! Works for me, too. Thanks!

Yep, it works for me, too. Thanks!

I updated to 11.1 after getting the iphone X (not any beta) and can't get the "live" wallpapers to work. They show up as available though. Is there any trick to getting them to animate? For now they just look static. Under all the app icons and even on the lock screen.

I'm ready to set up my iPhone but trying to figure out which way will be easier. I did an iTunes backup of my iPhone 6 last night. It's currently running 11.1 (15B93). Public beta 11.2 is waiting in the wings but I never installed it.

It sounds like I should be okay because the iPhone X has 11.1. So option one is I should be able to restore from last night's backup then installed 11.2. Am I correct with this?

Option two is to update my iPhone 6 to 11.2, do a backup then set up the iPhone X as new, install the beta profile then restore from the backup.

Or, option 3 is sign out of the beta profile on my old iPhone, do a backup then go from there.

I vote for option 1. Sound good?

My iPhone X says 11.1 is the current version with the beta profile installed. I cannot restore from my 7 Plus iCloud backup since it is on 11.2. They must be rolling it out gradually.

who in their mind would get this phone and install a beta tbh

Your right. I'm unenrolling from the program. I like testing the new iOS but it's not that new anymore and I want this phone to be as perfect as can be.

I would keep the 11.1 on the iP6. Restore the X from that backup to either 11.1 or 11.2 whichever iOS version you want on the X. With the backup being 11.1 you can restore it to either verison and can go back if you want also. I would also copy that backup to a different folder (or better just rename the device folder) so the backup will not be overwritten. That gives you options!! iTunes will overwrite the backup if you dont rename it. If you do you will still see it in iTunes as an option and can still backup 11.2 going forward. iTunes will show 2 backups in the list in that case. Of course this is assuming Windows iTunes version. Mac version has an archive function built in that will save them for you.
