Apple this afternoon released a new beta of iOS 11.2 for iPhone X devices, allowing the latest flagship smartphone to be updated to the latest developer beta.
Registered developers can download the iOS 11.2 beta from Apple's Developer Center or over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.

Apple first released iOS 11.2 to developers and public beta testers earlier this week, but did not provide an iPhone X version. That left customers who had installed the iOS 11.2 beta on their previous devices unable to restore from an existing backup on the new iPhone X.

This beta is only for iPhone X.
Why does the article have a picture of an 8 Plus?
Is it possible to restore files from a device running iOS 11.2 beta 1 on a device running iOS 11.2 beta 2?
Correct. The beta 2 update will not show up on your 7+. Setup your new X as new. Install the beta profile. Update to 11.2 Beta, then you can either Erase All Content and Setting and restore from your iCloud backup, or just restore from your iTunes backup. Either will work.I'm a public beta tester, not a developer, and not seeing this update. My 7+ is on the 11.2 Beta 1. I just received my iPhone X and I'm not sure what to do. I have an 11.2 Beta 1 backup in iCloud and on my laptop. Should I set-up the X as a new phone and then go through the process of adding the beta profile there, then upgrade 10 11.2 Beta 2, then erase and restore the 11.2 Beta 1 backup?

I can’t tell you that as I don’t have a X. No harm done though by just setting up as new, installing the profile, and checking if 11.2 pops up.Thank you. My fear is that when I set-up the X as a new phone, install my beta profile, and attempt to upgrade, it will only get me to 11.1. I can't tell if the 11.2b2 is for developers only, or public beta testers as well.
iPhone X 11.2 is Build Number 15C5097d
I don't recall the build number from before.

I got it as a public beta tester. (That said, make sure you have appropriate backups in case you need to downgrade for any reason)

In addition to the Calculator bug, iOS 11.2 introduces a new
who in their mind would get this phone and install a beta tbh

This is iOS 11.2 Public Beta 2.It's not beta 2, they just added iPhone X to the beta 1. Unless I'm not seeing something.

This is iOS 11.2 Public Beta 2.
I would keep the 11.1 on the iP6. Restore the X from that backup to either 11.1 or 11.2 whichever iOS version you want on the X. With the backup being 11.1 you can restore it to either verison and can go back if you want also. I would also copy that backup to a different folder (or better just rename the device folder) so the backup will not be overwritten. That gives you options!! iTunes will overwrite the backup if you dont rename it. If you do you will still see it in iTunes as an option and can still backup 11.2 going forward. iTunes will show 2 backups in the list in that case. Of course this is assuming Windows iTunes version. Mac version has an archive function built in that will save them for you.I'm ready to set up my iPhone but trying to figure out which way will be easier. I did an iTunes backup of my iPhone 6 last night. It's currently running 11.1 (15B93). Public beta 11.2 is waiting in the wings but I never installed it.
It sounds like I should be okay because the iPhone X has 11.1. So option one is I should be able to restore from last night's backup then installed 11.2. Am I correct with this?
Option two is to update my iPhone 6 to 11.2, do a backup then set up the iPhone X as new, install the beta profile then restore from the backup.
Or, option 3 is sign out of the beta profile on my old iPhone, do a backup then go from there.
I vote for option 1. Sound good?
