well this isn’t a good sign

I love Macrumors. Only place where you see a post announcing an announcement, and then a post for the announcement :) . Wonder if there will be a third or fourth post about iOS 11.4 release somehow today :D
Quite far from the only place for something that's quite far from unusual or new when it comes to info about an upcoming release and then info about the release when it's actually out.

I’ve never deleted iMessages, preferring to keep an archive of everything I’ve ever talked about with the people in my circle and photos and files we’ve shared. It’s come in handy many times.

The downside was that it took up quite a bit of local space. I’m looking forward to having all of that backed up in the cloud and freeing the space on my iPhone.

Trying to grasp how this works in saving space. Aren't the devices synced with iCloud, and once they are deleted from either (saving space on your phone), also then deleted from iCloud? And if the intention is to save space and not have the messages stored locally, how does one retroactively scroll back and see those prior messages (since iCloud.com does not have a Messages app)?

For those of us who haven't been testing the betas, you have to go to your account (top of Settings), then iCloud, then turn on "Messages" to get it going. I assume it takes a while for everything to take effect, right? (Not seeing everything on the iPad yet that I see on the iPhone.)

EDIT: Apparently it wants to see the devices plugged into AC power ("Uploading to iCloud Paused - Plug in your device and connect to Wi-Fi") -- so I guess it'll be a wait-till-I-get-home kinda thing. Oh, well...

I dunno, I purposely keep different messages on each device. Delete after 30 days on iPad to save space, delete almost everything on Mac, save everything on iPhone. Not sure this is a feature I will turn on.

This is what I want to know!

Finally.

Now people can get back to complaining about Air Power :D
On that topic, where is Airpower? And the wireless charging AirPods case, with the light on the outside? Where is it? Apple? Hello?
I mean normally I defend Apple when they delay stuff. Like the messages in iCloud, or the original AirPods. But this little charger just baffles me

You need to be WAY more specific with your question. Bugs can exist at several levels of the software stack. Sometimes a bug might be in a third-party app only, and that app would need to be updated. So... Take 2 on your question?

My wife has an iPhone 7. Ever since she upgraded to 11.3.1 her mic stopped working to the point where the voice recorder button is greyed out in the native app. She cant make phone calls unless the phone is paired to a bluetooth mic.

I too have an iPhone 7. I'm still on 11.3 and dont dare to upgrade

The same way Photos in iCloud work. If you haven’t viewed messages from further back in some time, they’ll be removed off your device but kept in iCloud. If you start scrolling back that far, the messages will download from iCloud on to your device. The real space saver will be shared photos in iMessage.

Plus, the user must enroll 2FA.

I was under the impression that Airplay 2 will work on macOS just like airplay 1 works on macOS. Is that wrong? Seems a bit strange that macOS wouldn't support Airplay 2
