In all seriousness, who is jailbreaking anymore anyway? The features we want are basically already on the OS, and really doesn't have any relevant benefits anymore other than extreme customization. At least, thats my opinion on it.

Or, just like anything else in life, they are probably doing it just to say they can do it.
I jailbreak an old iPad exclusively for remote messages/airmessage so I can use iMessage on windows.

I’d like any CarPlay app but I’m not gonna gimp my daily driver for one feature.

I swear to god the only people who jailbreaked were those who wanted to pirate apps or use their phone for tethering but their carrier plan didn’t allow it.

When it comes to piracy you don’t have to jailbreak, they is an app not on the AppStore but a third party store that’s free to download almost any app for free.

Apple lack of vetting enterprises certificates is piss poor and piracy on iOS is rampant the moment and third party iOS AppStore is possible unless Apple claims down

And tethered stuff is standered I’m on three and I just turn it on no extra cost it’s my consumer right it’s like a broadband ISP saying you can’t use more than one computer

In all seriousness, there's a post like this in EVERY jailbreaking related thread. Know what the capabilities are before you act like it's beneath you. Comedic response.

Can’t wait to see when somebody creates a jailbreak for 12.4.1 (because they always find a way).

unlikely anyone is targetting 12.4.1. Apple can clearly quickly release patched versions and stop signing the vulnerable version. The jailbreak creators will keep hold of any vulnerabilities they have in the hope they are still there for the next major release.

why does jailbreaking bother you so much that you have to be rude about it?

it’s funny, mods of this site interestingly dont remove comments like this.

im not really sure who “we” is because i downgraded ios 13 on my max to come back for jailbreaking again. the customization of ios is nearly non existent with jailbreaking.

It's not only about jailbreaking. This is an exploit that could allow any app in the App Store to jailbreak your device and allow the app to go rogue.

What sounds heroic when you call it "jailbraking" is actually a lack of security. Of course Apple fixes it as soon as they can.

It's 2019 and I still am prevented from downloading a 102.6 MB update for my phone until I get to a WiFi network. Why do they enforce this silly limitation?

Because a lot of people don't have unlimited and there would be screams if they got huge cellular charges plus sometime cellular can get inconsistent and you wouldn't want a screwed up update.

They allow you do to App Store downloads/updates that are well over 100MB in size. Wouldn't that apply to that as well? This isn't an automatic update. It won't let me manually update.

Jailbreaks feel "dirty" to me nowadays. But I do recall my high school years where I would scour the school's Macs to find system drivers and add-ons to make my home Mac SE even better! Some of those attempts were fruitless, but there was a certain excitement in "stepping outside the lines" of what `corporate Apple` decided for me. :D

As someone who still jailbreaks I see this statement trotted out quite frequently.

The truth is that there are still plenty of things Apple doesn't allow and a lot of the stuff that 'are basically already on the OS' tend to be watered down. It's enough for a lot of people, including some former jailbreakers. But there is a reason people still jailbreak. I do it because I'm unwilling to settle for a lot of Apple's half-measures on things.

Jailbreaking still has relevant benefits for me and while customization may have been a part of that I just use my device now. The last time I fooled with it to get it the way I want was some time in late 2016. I just use customization to achieve my desired look and then leave it alone.

So, your opinion, yes and absolutely valid. People see things differently and I just see it different than you do.

Waiting for the jailbreak iOS 13 for iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 since they tossed these 64 bit devices under the bus.

jailbreak = freedom

Your freedom is going to be stripped any day now once Apple stops signing 12.4. Best to take advantage of it while 12.4 is still signed.

Interesting that the update was bigger for my 5S than my 7+.
Hopefully this update fixes the dictation bug where you press the mic icon and nothing happens.
[doublepost=1566860749][/doublepost]And hopefully addresses apps that have problems running in background and require a phone reboot to run in background properly.
Also have problems with 12.4.0 with some audio apps not pausing audio via Bluetooth. Also problems with thumbs up bubble in iMessage not showing complete icon. And problems with searching notes, can't find any notes by search.

Jailbreaking is useless for vast majority of users today.
Realistically you can make that statement about any moment in time, given that the vast majority of users have always been just typical people who don't really bother deeply with tech (vast majority of which wouldn't even know what jailbreaking means).

LOL enjoy 12.4.1 while it lasts.
How's that?

Not sure anyone's freedom is really going to be affected by this.

No it doesn’t and no it isn’t. Freedom for me is knowing that my phone is more secure, knowing that the software I download from the AppStore are far less likely to do bad things, knowing that the features I rely on are stable and easy to use.

My freedom is different from your freedom. And that’s ok. The problem is that you assume your freedom, your priorities are everyone’s and that someone who caters to the freedoms others want is wrong for not catering to yours. In order for Apple to give you more of what you want it has to give others less of what they want, that’s engineering, it’s about tradeoffs. It’s fine to believe Apple makes the wrong tradeoffs, or anyone really, but don’t assume that what you want is the majority. Apple has bet (quite successfully) that the priorities of most users don’t include what you prize the most. It’s too bad there isn’t a company who wants to try and create something on between the iPhone and Android on the configurability vs security/ease of use scale, but that’s the reality of where things are today.
