I don't know about older people, but they still make pretty decent "kid devices".Fantastic for Apple to continue pushing security updates to these devices, even though I rarely see them in the wild now where I live (although the 6 and 6s are difficult to distinguish). I suspect that globally there are more people using them though, as well as older people who upgrade very infrequently.
Because Apple offered iOS 13 & 14 and now iOS 15 for the SE, they deem this to be the upgrade path to receive security updates. Would be good if they allowed people to choose iOS 12 with security updates. Is there something special about the SE that prevents it from getting this security update like the 5, 5s, 6 or 6s? My phone is at 12.4.1 and 12.5.5 would be enough for me for now.
It really might not be insane when you look at it from the perspective of being in a sprint to get rid of Intel support as soon as possible 🤷🏼♂️
The Nexus line were the flagship phones. The Nexus 5 was released that year, but only supported up to Android 5.0 I think!Google did not have a phone in 2013.
Why not use his patchers for Mojave or Catalina? Or OCLP for Big Sur.Irritatingly, this update is not available to anyone who CAN update to iOS 15, but don’t want to (yet, or ever).
I’m on iOS 12.4.1 and haven’t updated because it would break Apple’s ecosystem with my Macs stuck on High Sierra (and one of those only has High Sierra because of DosDude1’s hacked installers and patches).
My machines are not able to use his patches to move any further than High Sierra. Why not use his patchers for Mojave or Catalina? Or OCLP for Big Sur.
iOS and MacOS support spans have almost converged, it seems like pretty soon iPhones will be supported for longer than Macs which cost twice as much or more.
They updated the image after I pointed it out. Sneaky.Actually, it’s an image of a 6, which supports iOS 8-12. On the picture, it’s running iOS 8.

Hi Camelia,Hello @dysamoria
Can you elaborate more about the DosDude1’s hacked installers and patches?
Were the installers and patches hacked for macOS High Sierra only?
Or the installers and patches for macOS High Sierra and macOS Catalina were hacked too?
Where I can learn more?
Thanks
Camelia
Apparently 5xxx and 6xxx acceleration was added back in the Big Sur patchers so might be worth a look againHi Camelia,
DosDude1 also has patches for Mojave and Catalina. I am unable to use anything beyond High Sierra.
This is the site where you should be able to learn more:
Edit: My issue is this: “...systems with AMD Radeon HD 5xxx and 6xxx series GPUs will be almost unusable when running Mojave.” My iMac is a 12,2, with an AMD Radeon HD 6xxx series GPU.
I don’t see Big Sur mentioned on his site. Do you have a link?Apparently 5xxx and 6xxx acceleration was added back in the Big Sur patchers so might be worth a look again
You need to use the opencore legacy patcher here: https://github.com/dortania/Opencore-Legacy-Patcher/I don’t see Big Sur mentioned on his site. Do you have a link?

I’m not sure what you mean by hacked. The DosDude1 patches patch the Mac OS installers to get the OSes to install on officially unsupported machines. SIP gets disabled in order to install OS versions that aren’t officially supported; that probably leaves the system less secure than it would be otherwise.Hello @dysamoria
I upgrade one of my MBP using DosDude1 patches for Catalina
What I understood was those patches were hacked and now they are not secure to use them
Was what you tried to say? Or I am still not understanding what you were talking about?
Thanks

No you shoudn't need to do that. Previously you had to because the terrascale 2 GPUs werent supported. I think there's a lot of mixing of old and new info, which makes everything confusingThanks for the link.
The info there seems to indicate the this patcher requires replacing the GPU on the iMac 12,2. I won’t be attempting that. I’ve had to mess with the internals of that machine too many times after I bought it (used, off eBay) and I have zero motivation to ever open it again unless the hard drive fails. Certainly not to do even more complex modification.
Hmm. That site definitely isn’t set up clearly. I can’t see any specific mention of the chips supported at that site. 😕No you shoudn't need to do that.
