What happened to the Mail.app? The sender names are now fixed to last word first. Can’t find a setting to change it. Really odd results with some company names.

Add: Ok, found the solution. Apparently the setting is in Settings -> Contacts -> Display Order. Setting it as First, Last fixed the problem. Can understand the logic but was it hard to find if one weren't thinking in that direction.

Otherwise, 14.2 seemed to be snappier. ;)

Disappointing.

Setting up Intercom was a massive PITA. Didn’t show up the first time, so I went in to HomePod settings to enable it. Nothing. Closed and reopened the Home app, and got the popup. Still didn’t work.

Eventually found out that I had to tap the home icon > home settings > intercom, where my user (the only user) was disabled for some reason.

There is no control centre shortcut for intercom - either separate or as part of the Home CC widget. The only way to use it is via Siri or the Home app.

Additionally, while messages from my iPhone play almost instantly on the HomePod, sending messages the other way has a serious delay (minutes), which defeats the purpose. It’s quicker to just go and speak to people directly.

Altogether, a very poor, disjointed experience. I expect better from Apple.

For the Shazam integration it still doesn't save the song anywhere, correct? As in, when you Shazam a song using the app it stores that in your Shazam list to reference later. The new control center option didn't do this in the beta, did it change? If it doesn't store the song anywhere for you to reference later, I simply don't get the point of this functionality
I just blissfully added Shazam to the control center of all my devices...and now I’ve deleted it.

My update finally finished. Took forever.

Anyway, the keyboard issue has definitely NOT been fixed.
Still major hesitations and hiccups.
Very disappointing.

This is definitely new with 14.2. We now have this quick notification of a Bluetooth device being connected. I like it.

BUG! - Anyone else notice that after updating to 14.2 that when creating "Group" emails they no longer work. When I select one of my "Groups" and type into the To:/BC/CC field; all my Groups now say "No Members" when I attempt to create or forward an email to a "Group".

Intercom sounds very interesting... very useful during these COVID times for communicating round t he house to elderly relatives

anyone on this using an iphone X? I'm still on ios 13 and hesitant to move to 14
Possibly the best my X ever has been - very smooth and slick. I did a complete wipe and set up as new (then sync with iCloud) when iOS 14 was released, so it’s a pretty clean install in my case - but no issues going that route.

When it identifies the track and displays the song info, if you press this it then opens it in the Shazam app. Assuming you have set the Shazam app up to save songs, it then gets saved. Not really much different from opening up the app with auto-Shazam enabled, although I suppose it’s easier to find from the control centre now.

Is there a comprehensive list of what this update has broken / disabled ?

Sorry, just too many bad iOS experiences recently so not touching this update for now.

Looking at the new features for iPadOS, it looks like no improvement for non-iPad Air 4 and non-iPad Pro devices.

Why I don’t get music suggestions when no music is playing?!

Anyone having download problems with this?
On my iPhone Xs-Max it's been saying 6 and 7 hours and up to 0 days left.
Never had any download problems from Apple before.
My network is working comfortably at 400 mpbs.

I am having download problems with this. I always update my iPhone's iOS using my Mac. I started the download process almost 1 hour and 45 minutes ago, and it still says "Your Mac is downloading a software update for this iPhone and will install it when the download is complete."
