The attention paid to iOS 14 and the Summer's release schedule shows how little Apple seems to care about Mac OS. More and more I get the feeling the desktop is secondary in the Apple scheme of things.

So you would prioritize the OS that is used by fewer users?

You're fired.

From what I'm reading on twitter, this launch tomorrow caught many developers off-guard.

I'll wait a few days before trying it out because it's likely many of your favourite apps aren't quite ready.

Must be noob developers. For the past 8 years, from iOS 6 through iOS 14, Apple has released every major new version between September 13 and September 19. I know COVID has delayed some things, but developers should have planned for the possibility that iOS 14 would be released at the normal time.

Can't say I expected that the GM ipsw fails to install on macos.

Me either, even with Apple's long, slow, degradation of local content/software/connection/syncing.

So we're either going to see a supplemental update tomorrow, or this thing requires big sur?

For the tiny chance the GM is different. It's happened before. (I think it was macOS though, the release version came a few days later, after the weekend IIRC.)

It's happened when there's weeks between the two. In this case they're shipping new hardware with this code, so we may get 14.0.1, but it won't be a different build.

The case I remember, it was just a few days. However, I will concede it wasn't just 1 day.

On the flip side, it's only one day, so waiting isn't a big deal.

Or they've given up on quality, and figure they'll just 'Agile develop' their way out of the bugs
I had widgets in PB8. Now with GM they’re gone.

Any ideas?

That's what I'm doing. I deleted the beta profile today.
If I want to go from being on beta 8 of iOS 14 to the official public iOS 14 release tomorrow, all I have to do is delete the beta profile and do a software update? Or would I have to delete and restore my iPhone?
