Anyone having issues regarding poor performance & battery drain on older devices with iOS 15?
iPhone 8 here. 15.0.1 was fine, but 15.0.2 has drained my battery TWICE from 90% to less than 10% in 2 hours. It's basically dropping a few percent every couple minutes without using it. Went on a 10 minute walk around the block and it dropped from 70% to 1%.

Anyone know if the security vulnerability only exists in ios 15? I am on 14.8 and wondering if I have to update. Feels like apple is forcing everyone on ios 14 to update to ios 15 by only making the fix available in ios 15

well....I had forgotten about the iPad's recovery (so used to the updating process working well) I rebooted my iPad 10.5 Cellular / WiFi into recovery mode and (I cheated & I used iamazing) did a restore update and it worked and I am on 15.0.2. WOO HOO!

using the recovery in Android is so handy but rarely have I had to use the recovery in iOS devices...

The analysis posted by a researcher up-thread indicates it may have existed as far back as 14.7.

It’s in 14.8 so they’ve already gone back on their word to release security patches.

the piss poor uptake of 15 has nothing to do with the lack of a fix, no siree.

<shrug> I have zero interest in being a beta tester for Apple, thus no reason to bother with 15.x before Q1 2022, if at all. But, if this was a remote vuln, I would reluctantly install 15.x. It sounds like you have to have local access to the device, though.

Torn between staying on iPadOS 15.0.1 for possible jailbreak but all that work just for a bit of freedom when I can just hop on an Android device to run whatever Apple has blocked like Retroarch.

Same. problem here AP1971...and this was an issue with the previous update! Then I had to contact Apple and after several hours...and reps...no real solution. Had to attache to MBPro (and if one doesn't have a MBPro?) and install from the MBPro after first backing-up to the MBPro. What a waste of time and resource as I barely had the space to take on a backup to my laptops drive! Not sure what to try now....so checking out this and other forums. If you find a simpler solution please reply and post. Q: how did you delete the old dnlds from 'storage'?????
Sure, I will. If I find a solution I will let you know. To clear downloads go to settings general, about and under storage you can see apple update. Delete that update and try a fresh download. For me, it's not working.

I probably have to erase and restore. After the update I get no cellular Data. T-Mobile. I have to go to airplane mode and then out to get it back. Only last for a few min. Getting zero bars where i used to have 3-4 at home. iPhone X.

A bit off topic, but I can almost guarantee that if any employees (of Apple or otherwise) are working half the hours because they’re working from home now, those are the same employees that did half the work they should have when they were in-office.

I just saw something about productivity numbers being up yet again, so I don’t think that overall more people are working less. Working from home, once you get used to it, may include doing the laundry or going for a walk in the afternoon, but then you also end up starting to work earlier in the morning and later at night, because it’s easier to do whenever something pops up. I’ve worked primarily from my home office for more than a decade and I definitely put in more hours than when I worked at the office, including my 90 minute commute time each way (even when I factor in responding to forums like this occasionally).
Without a doubt. I’ll answer emails at 9PM or 6AM like it’s nothing. I did nothing of the sort when I was at the office from 9-5 every day.

That kind of almost 24 hour accessibility is great for business productivity, but can be a recipe for burnout too. The factory I currently work for is based out of China, so I’m used to waking at 3am to check and respond to emails, and I used to own a specialty wood factory in Northern Wisconsin, and dealt with customers in both China and Europe, so I got used to the round the clock work going back more than a decade.

The only time I got a break back then was when I had to commute up to the plant, which was a 6.5 hour drive that included about an hour where there was no cell coverage. For a couple of years, it bothered me that I would drop calls with customers, then I realized it was an ideal time to do nothing and could use the no cell coverage as an excuse for not being available to talk.

Oh absolutely... but on the flip side, I'm going to my kid's school at 11AM to read them halloween books for story hour, and my boss doesn't mind because I'll be around later. Work becomes kind of "fluid"... the rigid 9-5 doesn't matter much, if deliverables are being met :)

In iOS 15, AMX Credit Card Notifications No Longer show the Vendor that charged your card in the preview (even when unlocked). Why does Apple have to BREAK SH#T that's already perfect. Seems like a small issues but now you can't see where the charges are coming from unless you TAP-HOLD every damn charge individually. A feature that used to be a game changer in monitoring charges on your credit card is now painful.

Two step update?

I am updating an iPad to 15.02 and the update process first installed "something" that took about 2 minutes to download. It was not Apple-branded. The icon on the dialog box was a vertical black rectangle that looks like an iPhone. Yet, I was updating an iPad. The updater asked me to quit iTunes before it would install. After that process was completed, I re-launched iTunes, which told me that my OS was out of date and to update to 15.02 - which looks like the normal process.

Is this suspicious?
