Are there anyone still installing updates by plugging the iPhone to the Mac? Is there any reason to do this instead of updating via wifi?
Always. OTA basically download the changes in a small size update while Finder/iTunes will grab the full firmware. I find there are less issues with that than OTA. Results varies by users though.

At this rate, it's probably advisable to just wait for a x.2 release.
Also, unless the previous version has severely critical security vulnerability, Apple should be allowing downgrades if they cannot even put out decent quality on every releases.

I don't expect a completely bug-free software, but come on. Apple is the one bragging how they have complete control of hardware and software, so why the seemingly sloppy releases.

15.0.1 and 15.0.2 both have failed to verify the update on my iPad Pro gen 2.
This has never happened before, every previous update has always installed without issues until now.

I was on 15.1 B3 and had severe battery drain and overheating. This release has been rock stable and battery is excellent again 👌

This is starting to remind me of the early 2000s, when windows needed an update every week. It made me switch to Apple, because I couldn’t deal with updates and driver installs all the time.
why, on earth, do they not test their stuff prior to release? They already have public betas.

Anyone having issues regarding poor performance & battery drain on older devices with iOS 15?
i have a 7th gen ipad 10.2" which is the oldest device i have (other devices 12pm/ipad pro 2021). the ipad 10.2" has been a bit slow for a while now. it feels a little quicker on 15 but i could be imagining it. no battery drain at all on 15 or 14.

ipad pro 2021 absolutely no drain either. my 12PM will occassionally get unexplained battery drain so i need to restart it. *touch wood* it's not happened a while now. i think it may be something to do with cellular signal strength. i moved to a new house which is in a 5G area and i actually seem to have better battery life now with 5G on.

WTF! after updating to IOS 15.0.2 my 12 Pro Max Battery Health went from 96% to 92% !
is this normal ???
my 12 pro max still at 100% battery health on 15.0.2. had it since launch day.

While I'm here: anyone seeing load time issues with Maps - as in, takes forever to load anything in Maps? My wife's XR, running iOS 15.0.1, is unable to load any requests in Maps. Very odd.
At any one time there will be hundreds of thousands of users concurrently hammering Apple servers, requesting map data. Frankly, I’m impressed that the service is as quick and reliable as it is, given the amount of number crunching that it requires.

it‘s always been responsive for me, apart from a blip a few months ago, where it mysteriously ground to a crawl for a few hours. Almost certainly a temporary server-side issue. I can think of numerous reasons why an individual might be impacted for a time, but I doubt it’s anything to do with the OS.

Yes, I do for the main release but not always for the x.0.1 releases. I’ve been told by Apple support many times to do it that way. When a new iOS has caused problems for me they have told me to re-do the install via iTunes so I always do it that way now. Not touching iOS 15 till 15.1 has been out for a while. I no longer ask

“what new features and improvements are there in the new iOS?”…

I ask

“What does the new iOS break ? What will stop working? What data does it delete? What features, that I use often, does it break?”

I don’t ask out of being cynical or sarcastic, I’ve just learned, from experience, to absolutely dread a new iOS. I think it started with the Apple “maps” update where I started carrying an old Nokia N95 for when I needed directions……and more recently with iOS 14 which meant I could no longer add my own music to my phone via iTunes “It’s your fault for continuing to use an old MacBook Pro. Even though it’s in perfect working order, almost as good as new, you should throw it away and buy a new one” said Apple Support……

I've been plagued with that error 4000 for more than a year when trying to update via iTunes - the problem persisted even when I got a new PC. I've no idea if my thinking is correct or not but I have a preference for a whole update my iOS devices rather than point updates over the air so it's been quite an annoyance.

Surprisingly, yesterday I managed the update through iTunes (rather than over the air) for all my devices (3 iPads and 3 iPhones)

It's funny, I have found all releases to be stable and virtually bug-free until iOS 15. It's kind of a mess. No real excuse for it especially since it's not like there are a ton of new features over iOS 14...many of the changes feel like they happened just for the sake of it.
Same here.

Never had any serious problems with major upgrades.

Recently upgraded to Safari 15. Crashes on YouTube all the time when adding a bookmark.

Reading these topics (incorrect storage capacity in iOS 15 & not working music player controls in watchOS 8)...

I think I'll stay on Big Sur, iOS 14 and watchOS 7 for a while :/

It's not apparently. o_O
Humbly asking, maybe we should allow some time foe the process to be quality. Probably, the programmers are given more responsbility, and that is a good thing, because in every work people perform better when they are given a minimum of responsbility. Instead of detailed control

I have a first generation iPad Pro 12.9 & it updated to 15.0.2 OTA fine. iPhone 13 PM no issues both Apple Watches to 8.01 no issues. My 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 tried it OTA Stalled on Verifying, restarted and stalled on Installing. Tried an imazing upgrade and unmounted with a complex error, tried with finder and unknown error 4000....Oh Well..

I'm noticing a strange issue with messages after going to 15.0.2.
If I get a call from someone with an iphone, and do the decline with message option to have it send them a canned text message. It goes as an SMS and not iMessage. Further, when I share a web page to someone, it does the same thing. I can go back to messages and send a message and it goes as an iMessage. I didn't notice at first till people started asking me why I was sending messages as SMS. I rebooted, and it went away for a few, then came back a couple hours later. Anyone else experiencing this?

My 12 PM battery was a absolute mess. Won't get into it, thats in a whole other thread.

Many had, still have issues with Health drain. between 80's - low 90s. Meanwhile others still show 100%...even 99, 98% since Nov.

It was like some battery lottery with that phone! Apple should have addressed this WAY back in Spring, Summer IMO, but didn't. Maybe they will this Winter / Spring after a lot upgraded to 13's? (saves money for them with replacements.

OR some iOS update that "recalibrates" % like it did for the 11's?? [did that really do anything?..I don't know, I didn't own the 11] eye roll)
