Overnight battery drop not too bad after iOS 16.1 update.

So not sure if this is the place to post this or not but my wife and I figured we'd do the iCloud Shared Library thinking that it would work like the dozens of other shared libraries we have together.

Eh, nope.

So I did it first - turned on shared library and it behaved exactly like I thought it would - made a shared library option

And my photos were in both locations as I expected (with no increased iCloud storage / local storage used).

Then I sent the invitation for my wife to join and ....

It started downloading all her photos to the shared library and wiped out both of our personal libraries and now we have one massive shared library but empty personal libraries.

Any new photo we take puts it in both libraries (our own personal and shared (as we thought it would)).

Hmm. Alrighty. lol.

Update:

We have decided to go back to personal libraries because it's so confusing - we don't know whose photo is whose when it was all in shared.

So we're in the process of removing the shared library - it gave us options to keep our own photos and it's sitting processing that.

Then we'll re-do the shared library BUT only add photos going forward when our phones are together - keeping most of our photos in our personal libraries but sharing ones we take when we're together.

Leaving shared library (over 70k photos) took half a day. But it eventually worked. Even though it didn't look like it was doing things - it eventually got around and separated our two libraries perfectly.

We're thinking about doing a shared library again but ONLY on photos going forward and only if we're together (default settings). The big downer is, it's not easy to see whose photos are whose in the shared library.
