Just received feedback from Apple

So on 17.0.3 I was USB tethered to my Mac the other day… in an air conditioned room, no sunlight baking the phone. After about 10 minutes the phone displayed the message about the phone overheating. Phone did not shut down or dim the screen. Strange.

So 17.0.3 didn’t fix the overheating issue.

No I don’t think it did.
 
Something interesting which may (or may not) help someone…

I also didn’t get good results on 17.0.3 on the 13 Pro - phone was still running hot and with a dism al battery life. I then installed 17.1 B2 and subsequently B3, which were much better in terms of heating, but the battery life was only marginally improved.

My phone is managed and got flagged for security compliance for running a beta, and I had to restore back to a last public restore. I did that, and reverted to the last iCloud backup I had from 17.0.3 (losing about a week of activity, but ok).

It’s been a completely different experience so far - phone hasn’t gotten hot once, and the battery life seems much better (using
May be worth a try.
