Apple today released iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1, minor updates to the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems that came out last September. iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1 come two weeks after the launch of iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4.

The new software can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

There have been complaints about issues with CarPlay and deleted apps being restored, and iOS 18.4.1 includes several bug fixes. According to Apple's release notes, the update includes bug fixes and security updates. It addresses an issue that could cause wireless CarPlay not to work in select vehicles.

Apple is already testing iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5, updates that are available in a beta capacity right now. iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 will likely launch in May.

Finally getting rid of 18.4 dev beta. They should release normal versions as 18.4.0.1 instead of 18.4 so we can quickly switch from dev betas to normal versions.

Bug fixes while new bugs are introduced 🙁 I just want things to be as smooth as iOS 17 was. While not perfect
9000 times better.
18.4.1 was just released. Do you mind sharing what bugs were introduced?
You posted 10 minutes after the announcement, so i doubt you even got to check for new bugs.

I see iOS 17 as one of the worst versions, iOS 18 is definitely better.
The worst bug for me that was super annoying is related to the App Store app which was fixed in iOS 18.4, but really sad for devices stuck on iOS 17 that will never get the fix.
There are also some iCloud related bugs introduced in iOS 17 which still haven't been fixed, but are not present in iOS 16.

You have until 23 April 2025 to update/upgrade/downgrade to iOS 18.4 before it is no longer allowed.

You can already do this today; there's no need for a ".1" update to get out of the beta. When you were using the 18.4 beta, all you had to do was install the RC and then turn off the beta updates (or even just turn off the beta updates any time during the beta period). The RC is usually the same version that gets released to the public. If the public release ends up being a newer build, you'll be able to update to that one.

No watchOS update?
Boot time has been reported and observed to be 3-4 times longer with 11.4
That's what I wanted to know, too. So far no update available, so I'm guessing no…

I sure noticed to boot time issue also.

It’s not how software versioning works.

X.y.z

X : Major version change
Y : Addition of new features
Z : Bug fixes

And as @BigBlur mentioned, you can just turn off beta updates — regardless of which beta you’re on— and update to the public release when it’s released.

It’s interesting that we got a tvOS update but not for AW, but then again, watchOS has been updated with a day or so delayed recently…

no its not. if you are on 18.4 ios dev beta and you turn off the beta updates and when normal version comes, it does not show up. so stop being ignorant and talk bs.

There was a major regression in Spotlight search from the lockscreen in 18.4: the gesture for initiating Spotlight search is much more difficult to hit because it will always first try and minimize your notifications. Hitting it on iPad is even more difficult for some reason.
This means you have to minimize notifications first and then swipe again for the search. On 18.3.x, this wasn't an issue.

I have Prioritized Notifications enabled which I thought may be a contributor (since it has some graphical issues already) but it doesn't affect anything.

Hopefully this update addresses the gesture.

Edit: Nope 🙂

So confidently incorrect. I don’t have time to explain how basic software updates work but you can look it up instead of thinking you know everything when you clearly don’t.

As long as it’s not the final RC build you already have installed, the final public release will show up as an update.

The only rule: iOS shows an update only if there is a newer version available.

That's why my last sentence says:
If the public release ends up being a newer build, you'll be able to update to that one.

The public release is often the same build as the last beta/RC, so there's no update offered. You can verify this by checking the build number.

The build number for 18.4 RC 2 was 22E240. The build number for the 18.4 public release was 22E240. It's the same exact number, meaning Apple released the same exact build to the public...so there was no update needed if you turned off the beta updates at that point.

Have you ever noticed how the weekly 18.4 beta updates installed version 18.4.0 over and over without changing that number? Updates are largely driven by the build number, not the user-friendly numerical version.

Hope, that they fixed this problem too: when you lock your device and it is idle for some time, notifications from WhatsApp, Telegram doesn't come. Only if you go to the app.
