I hope it fixes the horrible battery drain on iOS 18.4.
Yeah, usually the battery drain dissappears after a few days after an update. But the battery drain is lingering on 18.4. I no longer get a day like stamina. Suddenly I get huge drains from just listening to my regular radio app sucks the life out of my 15 Pro. This is just regular gripe...move along, move along. Let's see in a few days what the risk takers complain about come weekend 😎🖖

So now that iOS 18.5 is released, which will receive pretty much minor updates from this point on, I guess it's almost about time to upgrade from iOS 17.7

The major focus will be on iOS 19 by June 2025 so iOS 18.x by that point should be stable and with minimal bugs?
I’m not that brave. There is still a lot of complaints: `I hope Apple will fix battery drain/broken Mail notifications/unstable Photos app/CarPlay connection/etc.`.

Maybe I will install one of the last iOS 18 releases, just before iOS 19 release, but I’m not sure. It’s fine to skip iOS 18 at all.

Got to a point now where I don't upgrade by default. Release notes show zero benefits of note, whilst always potential to break stuff that wasn't broken. Risk-benefit isn't favourable. I'll even wait out intro of iOS 19 until I see what - inevitably - bugs appear first.

Put simply, I don't trust Apple software anymore.
Release notes show zero benefits…
Bugfixes and overall polish. I understand your complains but even more is a version without noticeable new features an interesting one because apple could focus on an overall polish.
Complaining about the lack of features and bugs at the same time about an update doesn’t make so much sense.

Are you using an iPhone 16? If so it is a device issue. Only iPhone 16 seem to be affected by this.
Yes my main phone is an iPhone 16 Pro Max - but it's not just the iPhone 16. I've had iPhone 8, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 16E all have the same issue on older Mercedes E-Class'.

There are also plenty of people with other devices complain all over the internet.

It must be something to do with a security update that was rolled out as it happened even on an iPhone 8.

Different than the RC, they must have added some last minute bugs
Yes like the messages bug I have. I had a group text and when I went to delete them. It said the incorrect number of texts I deleted. Under recently deleted it said 1 text when it shouldve said 4 texts. So I went back to my inbox and all the texts were deleted. So Im thinking its a glitch or something

Update at your own peril

Personal Policy:

iPhone upgrades mandated on min. 1yr delay cycle.

Sorry, Apple, I won’t be beta testing iOS anymore. 6mo to fix the most annoying bugs in iOS 18? Then I won’t own a device in 2026 that can only run iOS 19.

Otherwise love my iPhone 16 Pro; thanks Apple software leadership for saving my wallet and the environment after a decade+ of oft convincing annual enticements. If I’d have wanted betas on my primary device I’d have enrolled it.
