Anyone else getting weird back light issues on the lock screen when not at 100% brightness?
It's like the sides are way brighter than the rest of the screen. Only been an issue since installing 18.6.

The 16 Pro has an OLED screen - there is no backlight. I think you are just imagining things.

Finally I can jump on the iOS 18 vagon. Since about 4-5 years, I always wait until July or so to move to the next version of the operating system on all my Apple devices and do a fresh install rather than an upgrade. This seems to make me experience the al-most stable version of the operating system Apple intended when they make the announcement.

Considering how big the changes are in ***os26 series, there is no way they are getting into my devices before July 2026.

Apple, we desperately need a Snow Leopard year.

I’m back in the realms of photos not syncing from my Photos on my Mac to Photos on my iPhone. Got a photo album with 65 images in, around 50 Sync, the rest don’t. If I deselect the album in Finder, Sync so it removes, then reselect and re-sync, I get more photos on the phone, -maybe 55 give or take-, but some of the ones that are now missing were ones that Sync’d initially. They don’t even appear in the right order.

Had this issue a few years ago and one update it just fixed itself, but it was like it for about a year. Back to square one again 🙄

Upgraded from 18.3 on my 12. Seems OK but it's back to asking for my passcode to trust every time I plug it into my PC.

Also my watch decided to buzz my wrist during sleep focus to tell me there's a watch update. 😤

Smart. Respect for the day(?, +?) you spend setting the phone up again after the fresh install. Do you worry about the months you go with open security vulnerabilities? Bummed they only let older devices use the later 17.X (for example) releases.

Sad but true. Investors won't get onboard though, will they? :(

Funny, I'd thought "no iOS 19 in 2025 please!" but this isn't how I meant it (presumably rushing the next iOS as usual, but not technically "iOS 19"!)

Got a bug with 18.6. In CarPlay Apple News shows on dashboard but does show under settings > general > CarPlay. It cannot be hidden or moved.

Took a risk and updated my 18.3 factory installed 16e to 18.6.
It looks kind of nicer visually. Left to be seen in CarPlay. And it happens tomorrow. 18.3 was way uglier than 15.5 which I"ve had before. Let's see if they improved the looks of CarPlay.
I updated it through Restore option so it's sort of fresh install.
See if battery life would still go three days.
Funnily enough my mom has the same phone and I disable all kinds of system uptates for her and learned her to reject any updates whatsoever, haha. Better than be naive, imo. If it's really that good then I'll talk her into upgrading to 18.6. Meanwhile I can just compare how they work side by side.
I've put mine on charge overnight and then see how it goes and most probably will update this message.

upd. CarPlay still looks meh and with 18.6 one is compelled to enable Siri otherwise CarPlay won't work. Which hasn't been the case before 18.6. It should be mentioned though that the CarPlay is not native to my car though. Battery life seems good so far.
