I hate how you have to download the entire OS every time there's a small update like this. 666MB for a few bug fixes... Also, what's up with the 666MB? Maybe we should stay away from this update guys lol.

I know. It's insane... Hopefully with iOS 5 we will get some sort of patch system, like on OS X. Makes sense, really.

Earlier this week, a report surfaced claiming that iOS 4.3.1 would be released with 1-2 weeks, and a follow-up report had that the release might address some battery life issues reported with iOS 4.3, although that has yet to be confirmed.

Apple indeed fixed the Battery performance issue from iOS 4.3, but just because, they added a new battery performance issue in iOS 4.3.1.

I hope it fixes, and please let me know if it does (downloading, 57 mins to go):

Facetime bug - black screen shows up so people can't see me.
Battery Life Bug

My download was nearly finished and iTunes come up with a "download error" and I've had to start from the beginning again.

Hope this fixes the authentication issues I'm having with my work server....only a few of us actually using iPhones or iPads and most mornings it asks for the password but hitting cancel normally just gets rid of the box...annoying.

Downloading now through iTunes. If iTunes times out the download half way through like every time before, I'll freak out and you guys will hear it from me. Anyone have the direct download links?

Seriously. What happened to the support for the VZW iPhone? All this talk of fragmentation. Now we have essentially the same phone, on different software generations. What gives? I guess we really are the red-headed step child.

Can anyone confirm the battery life is addressed?

The update was just released minutes ago, their is no way anyone can have an accurate answer until after testing it for a few hours.

No one can confirmed the battery performance has improved after just 10 minutes of testing it.

at&m

I know what this is. at&m is catching up on all iPhone users using T-Mobile edge.....
Now we are screwed for sure.

Great but...

Does this update my iPad to an iPad 2? Also does it come with onions? Because I don't like onions.

I think that the Verizon iphone was so secretive that the iOS group didn't even know about it... once the VZW iphone was released, the iOS group now has to incorporate the changes...

Any chance of full change log? Haha guess that's too much to ask......

I wouldn't expect a 'full changelog' from Apple given it isn't something that they really do - to the disappointment of many unfortunately.

Still no Verizon version?

Seems like Verizon isn't getting the love as AT&T is getting.

I'd say that Verizon maybe blocking the update because they want to make sure that all hell doesn't break loose once it is released. It would be interesting to see what the justification is, maybe 5.0 will be the 'big change' for iOS on AT&T and Verizon phones?

This has been a problem ever since the App Store appeared to; on the Mac one is told to re-download a 4GB application for a few piddly updates in much the same way one is forced to re-download the whole operating system. I do wonder what their rational actually is - when they recompile the whole operating system they're unable to create a piecemeal patch (difference between the new version and old version)? That when they update one thing there is an ABI change that requires the whole thing to be re-installed?
