Some folks might disagree that this is not an issue. And many battery drain issues are from poorly coded third party apps. So unless you want them to load and vet every app in every possible scenario before approving them

Sorry, but you're wrong, the battery life is a real issue for a majority after the 6.1.3 upgrade. I won't disagree that some apps might play a role in increased battery drain, but Apple's update definitely played a part.

never happened before...

"Unable to Install Update"
"An error occurred installing iOS 6.1.4"

Even though a percentage of the users experience some battery issues (at least some of which aren't really related to the phone/OS itself and are more related to some apps and/or quality of cellular/Wi-Fi signal available) doesn't really mean there's some sort of an issue to be addressed, especially if you factor in that most people don't actually experience that particular issue.

I'm fairly sure a large proportion of people DO experience the issue of the battery.

Here's a brilliant idea Apple, please fix the battery drain problem BEFORE addressing something that isn't really an issue.

The vast majority of users have no battery issues. Have you done anything to attempt to resolve it or just complained and waited for a software update? Restore the phone first. If that doesn't solve it, call Apple and they can have you install an app that monitors battery usage to see what is causing the drain. There are also some bad batteries (it happens when you're manufacturing millions of phones) and your phone may need to be exchanged for a refurb.

Sadly it seems that most people with iPhone issues spend more time complaining about them than actually taking any other steps to resolve the issue (not saying this is the case for you but it sure seems to be for most people with problems).

that's new to me

Apple today released a minor iOS 6.1.4 update, bringing an updated audio profile for speakerphone. The new version, which arrives as Build 10B350, appears to only be for the iPhone 5.

The update did not involve a beta testing period for developers and follows the release of iOS 6.1.3 in mid-March.

Oh man, these ARE exciting times!!!

friends
before this update i was having a problem in the phone with speakerphone, for example like if i call someone and that user is busy my phone speakerphone gives beep with some kind of echo of my side noises, but after this update its gone, now there is no echo of my side noises (sorry for my bad english)

Got excited for a moment and thought this would fix the dreadful sound quality of music on the 5 compared to the 4/4S...but alas no...
I'm no audiophile, but what happened to the sound quality? Is it a cheap DAC or something?

what sound quality issue?

Very well depend on apps. I started using Moves a few weeks ago, and battery life plummeted (to be fair, nature of the app is to monitor accelerometer activity 24/7 and frequently update GPS position). Not everyone may be aware that some apps do, quite reasonably, suck power.

Odd that almost everything I read is contradictory to your assessment that the vast majority of iphone owners don't have battery issues since 6.1.3.

I couldn't agree more. But the battery drain that is experienced by a large majority of users is happening with nothing running in the background, or with apps that prior to 6.1.3 did not cause accelerated drain.

That's essentially just from restarting the phone (which is part of an update generally)--battery meter is voltage based so it's not exactly an exact type of thing, so once a phone restarts the fresh reading it gets can be slightly different than what it was before (could be a bit higher or lower).

Not even in the first 5 who made that kind of a pathetic pointless post in a thread like this.

Pathetic and pointless eh? How about representative of a culture or group. How about he's saying things like that because that just happens to be one of the things we do around here and it creates a bit of character for the place. I have never not been around a group of people that don't have their own "house" jokes and ribbing that give that group some distinction from other groups. It's one of the silly things that makes the MacRumors group the MacRumors group. It's familiar. It's silly. It's different.

What is the end game of complaining about these things? It's a place where nothing unordinary or exciting ever happens. Sounds like a fun place.

At best there have been some level of complaints here (as there are pretty much with every version of the phone and OS released), but the complaints even here, and other similar forums, are only a small percentage of those forums' users, who overall represent a much much smaller percentage of all users in general.

Not good enough. If I can't listen to my Barry White on the speakerphone (to get my foxy lady in the mood) then this update is a complete failure.

Why wouldn't you be able to play any album over your speakerphone? I'm sure this update will not restrict which albums you can play.

Nice way of trying to rationalize off-topic and/or troll-like behavior, as "catchy" or "meme" like it might be (to some).
