Speaker update and still no Mac Pro???? (Gotta have that comment at some point!)

Sorry, but you're wrong, the battery life is a real issue for a majority after the 6.1.3 upgrade. I won't disagree that some apps might play a role in increased battery drain, but Apple's update definitely played a part.

So you have personally inspected every phone that is having battery issues and every app running on those phones which is how you KNOW that the issue was the iOS software update and that alone. Good to know

Who cares

Who cares. Give me an iPhone 6 with better speakers and a larger screen. I tried the HTC One, what a beaaaauuutiful phone but Android is just so messy. But that's only my opinion on the matter :D Oh I forgot to mention that my battery life was way better on the HTC One. Odd, I thought Androids had poor battery life.

iPhone still rocks and it has since gen 1.

There are also some bad batteries (it happens when you're manufacturing millions of phones) and your phone may need to be exchanged for a refurb.

They don't swap your whole phone for a bad battery unless by some way off chance they are out of batteries at the moment you come in. Generally they swap the battery

Awesome, sound's now coming out of both speaker grills! Apple, how did you do that?!?

Especially since one of them is a mic, not a speaker

All the folks I know at the Genius Bar just swap them rather than taking the time to swap out a battery. Send them back in for RMA and call it a day. Maybe this has changed with the 5 and it's easier accessible battery.

According to my sources perhaps a month after the iPhone 5 launched a new 'not to be overridden' mandate went out to support staff. No more swapping phones for battery issues if the diagnostic scan, which is mandatory for all repairs, says the battery is fine. And if it says the battery needs to be serviced you swap the battery, on all models. My guess is that they got tired of losing a couple hundred dollars on swaps that weren't needed. And that's just on the part, the cost of having the returned part torn apart and tested would be on top of that

Now maybe the folks you know are lazy and don't care about following rules but no one should expect the same at all stores

Hoping this update sorts out the call quality issue, where about 20% of my outgoing calls- I can't eat the other party because their voice comes over all squawky and garbled...

Odd that almost everything I read is contradictory to your assessment that the vast majority of iphone owners don't have battery issues since 6.1.3.

----------

I couldn't agree more. But the battery drain that is experienced by a large majority of users is happening with nothing running in the background, or with apps that prior to 6.1.3 did not cause accelerated drain.

Agreed. Just had it happen today. My iPhone 5 drained... out of nowhere, no new apps, no new whatever, just BAM, dead in a few minutes. I had never encountered this problem before today. Very disappointing.

And I thought with the Galaxy S4 and HTC One launch, there was nobody left on the iPhone. Weird.

Said as if the iphone isn't the most popular smart phone ever sold.

Said as if everywhere you look someone isn't pulling out an iPhone to play Angry Birds.

Said as if you are constantly bombarded with "tritone" ringtones for people getting messages.

I could go on, but you get the point. You statement is one of the dumbest so far on this site.

I have a test music track to test the bass response. iPhone 5 speaker phone previously was just pathetic in base response. With the update either it is as bad as before or slightly worse, can not tell but there is definitely no improvement. Not that I was expecting any improvement, so this is just a data point.

Cell phone companies do not send full spectrum audio.... so you're not going to see a 'bass response' over a phone call.

Got excited for a moment and thought this would fix the dreadful sound quality of music on the 5 compared to the 4/4S...but alas no...
I'm no audiophile, but what happened to the sound quality? Is it a cheap DAC or something?

Are you serious? I hear no real difference between my 4 and 5 - using etymotic IEMs. The speaker on the 5 is definitely better than the 4.

Just maybe, perhaps, he was joking???

Large majority? Proof please.

I am very amused at all the reaction to a minor update.

Say what you will but I am happy with the update. Bluetooth in my car had stopped detecting the phone about a month ago. I figured the BT module had gone out (again). Was planning to call BMW to see about a replacement but after running the update it saw my phone again and all is good.

The new audio profile shifts the speakerphone frequencies lower so everyone sounds like James Earl Jones.

"Hi Mom, you're on speakerphone ... hey, would you mind saying, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force"?

It's like the time I listen to the Bible as read by James Earl Jones lol

Even though a percentage of the users experience some battery issues (at least some of which aren't really related to the phone/OS itself and are more related to some apps and/or quality of cellular/Wi-Fi signal available) doesn't really mean there's some sort of an issue to be addressed, especially if you factor in that most people don't actually experience that particular issue.

I'd like to voice out that he's not the only one experiencing the battery life issue.

Apple is all about creating a wonderful user experience. I fail to understand how apple fails to see that a full charge only lasting 6-7 hours drastically impedes on having that wonderful user experience.

Users are more concerned about having a charging cable and being close to a power source rather than enjoying the phone.

How many times have you put your phone down or away to conserve power? It becomes blatantly obvious when you're travelling and you need your phone for maps or whatever.

Apple get your act together. Users need the phone to last 24hrs without a charge. Not a fraction of that.

My 'source' is the one of the Market Directors for the Apple Store overseeing over 10 states for the past 6 years (Regional Director for 2 years before that and Market Leader for over 6 years before that) so what would he know.
