As far as I know, traffic isn't enabled in the beta. Wait until release before moaning about this. It's none existent as its not enabled....

I hope your right as I hadn't seen anything talking about Uk traffic.

Surprised as how you display traffic is very much a UI thing to get feedback on, having seen the screen shot of it I didn't like the look of the initial implementation i.e. just a red line where there is traffic. I know there is argument for no lines for good traffic but when traffic courage is patchy at the best of times you want to know a positive its clear rather than its clear..or maybe we have no data.

this update is only for developers, normal users should wait until iOS 6 official announced

iTunes Match worrying development

Hi, please can anyone else confirm this new iTunes Match behaviour in B2:

- Music is syncd using iTunes to get music initially loaded quickly through USB
- iTunes Match then enabled on iPhone (usual message 'this will remove all content')
- in iOS6 B2 it now does actually wipe out the music library and loads the library info (with the cloud image)
- Previously, in iOS5, you could use your iTunes library as the starting point without having to download EVERYTHING over wifi.

This is a huge backward step but I'm not sure if I'm the only one who sees this.

My iPhone 4S took 45min to upgrade over the air... The "Preparing to install" step took an eternity.

I think the status bar is kind of cool, actually. Maybe they'll add a setting to turn it off.

What is awful is the new maps app. Sure, the 3D satellite view is a nice gimmick, but the quality of the actual maps is really poor. OK, Apple's maps are probably decent for driving use, but for foot navigation in Europe they are literally years behind Google's in quality and coverage. There is just so much important stuff missing and broken I don't know where to begin. London looks like a barren wasteland.

Unless there are massive improvements, I think a lot of people are going to be really disappointed with iOS 6 maps when it ships.

Same in Tokyo, although improved a bit with beta 2.

Also, the BBC app now crashes soon after launch

After having this installed for 6 hours, I am noticing a faster than normal
drain on the battery with no running apps. 100% to 55% in 4 hours on
standby.

I charged mine to full before going to bed then unplugged it, and I have geofencing on (from reminders and instapaper) and bluetooth on standby. I woke up this morning to still a 100% charged battery.

So far I really only see improvements with Maps not crashing. My brightness controls still somehow become forgotten and raise to 75% or higher, even with auto-adjust off. I leave it in the 30% range to save battery life.

Once my phone is charged, I want to see if battery life improved. Beta 1 only gave me about 2-3 hours of same use compared to 18-22 hours on iOS 5.1.1 on an iPhone 4S (ATT).

It's not as bad as the old "debug code" joke from the early days of OS X. People actually took that one seriously.

(When the 10.0 GM was seeded in 2001, some insisted there would be another, "real" GM with the "debug code" removed because it was so slow. Thus with every update you'd get "Did they remove the debug code?" comments.)

Or the Powerbook G5 next Tuesday ...

You hope not ? It's not the end of the world. All you have to do is go to Safari settings and change it.

I know that, but what are the bigger implications? everyone knows Yahoo is really just Bing, and what does this mean about Microsoft and Apple?

Yep, I too can confirm that turning on iTunes Match does indeed delete existing music.

Worse, it wipes out the lyrics. At least before lyrics showed on tracks that were synced via itunes. But now that benefit is gone too.

Thanks. It's pretty nasty, I hope they change this for the release.

havent ready this before so i thought i'd say it

if you delete an app and then download it again, it'll remember where you had it placed i.e in a folder and redownload it to that folder in the initial order.

pretty thoughtful

Words With Friends v5.0 not working on iOS6 beta2 for iPad3. Bummer, as I have 7 or 8 games going at the moment!

For me WWF works better in beta 2. With beta 1, on my iPhone 4S it would nearly always crash if opened when already in memory. That has stopped with beta 2 (before installing WWF update if I recall).

On my iPad 3, WWF on beta 1 behaved the same as iPhone 4S. WWF 5 on beta 2 works fine too--no crashes if switching back to the app when it is already in memory.

Mine was crashing when loaded from memory in the beta1 as well. With the beta2, however, it crashes on start regardless. Just a minor bump in the road.
