Traffic seems non-existent in comparison to the Google traffic. Very disappointing.

Used Apple maps in anger for the first time when I got stuck in Guildford at rush hour trying to get through the A3....result.....trying to drive the small roads is impossible with it.... I ended up using the wires 4S with Google Maps to much greater success
Nothing works better than Waze in city traffic. I was driving through Denver during rush hour and instead of getting pissed off at every slow down I knew in advance when they'd occur because of other people's warnings. It turned a frustrating drive into a game (you get to choose to confirm an accident, slowdown, etc or report one). Not sure if it works well in the UK though.

It's taking mine update forever to download. It says "Preparing Update" and it's about 1/4 left.

Should I restart the iPhone?
No, it takes forever "Preparing Update." Just let it be and it'll eventually finish.

waze is actually a good tool but i don't do enough long car journeys that i don't know alternative/busy routes. when i did use it though i found it useful and not to mention i enjoyable reporting on accidents

This could mean live icons in other places in iOS. A context aware Weather app icon would be great (temperature + weather conditions in the app icon).

Why is everyone obsessed with a live weather icon? Am I the only one that sees what a ridiculous concept this is? Enevitbly, such a live weather icon would use one's location to present the current weather for where you currently are - unless you live in an over air-conditioned underground bunker, you would probably get a better idea of the weather from looking out the window...

It made sense before the Notification Center & widget. Now it would just be a waste of resources.

mean we have ONE major major city. how come that isnt in 3D?

Apple bought C3, for the 3D, C3 had around 100 cities in 3D before apple bought them, London included. They've only enabled some sample cities in the beta, you wanna see London in 3D, look at the c3 demo and you'll see. This is a developer beta, 3D maps are not needed for API testing. These 100 cities should be enabled in GM at the earliest.

Release notes did say that high res maps are not in the beta. This will prob change upon release. High res maps are not required in the developer beta for testing api's, as I said above.

I restarted it and it picked right up where it left off and finished downloading and installed. I believe it stopped when I decided to backup on iCloud while it was downloading the update at the same time.

Regarding traffic, it's important to remember that Apple said during the keynote that they'd be using crowdsourced information to determine traffic levels and speeds...

Therefore, expect the traffic functionality to improve as more and more iDevice users adopt iOS6. At the moment, the information just isn't there due to the scarcity of iOS6 users.

Turn-by-turn has taken a small step backward for me.
In beta-1 the music would quieten softly when the voice prompts came and then quickly return to normal volume.
In beta-2 the music softens maybe 5-10 seconds before the prompt and sometimes it softens when there's no prompt at all -- just a directional change on the screen only. Takes longer after the prompt for the volume to restore also.
Definitely a work in progress.

Strange, mine never softened in beta 1. Siri was just incredibly loud over it.

Anyone else's status bar not corresponding with apps? Mine's only working with Messages and Settings.
Yeah, it still works fine. Things, for instance, has a status bar that looks like the one in Messages. I read a short article somewhere explaining what iOS uses to determine the status bar color. It's some pixel value near the bottom not the top of the app.

Man, there are a LOT of people on their high horses on this forum!

Sorry, but I agree with him. Look, it's understandable that someone might pay the $99 for the dev license just to play with the latest gadget, and check it out. But if you're not going to put in the effort to read the release notes, expect the first dev preview to be rock solid, and can't even figure out how to load the d$*n thing, then please sit back, shut up, and don't post. Or here's an idea: Read the Dev forums!

Which JB app you using? I've used a few but never liked the notification badge usage, seemed out of place. I really like the integration of the app you use. Thanks! :)

NM Found it. Thanks for, um, your help. Again.

Battery Life

My battery life really was bad with iOS 6 beta 1. So far iOS Beta 2 the battery life seem much improved.
I'm on iPhone 4S Just a note make sure to reset network setting when ever you update a version of iOS it fixes most battery issues you may have.

Wow. So many folks feeling as if a beta release defines the final product. It's so bad that popular media outlets are using these bugs to make iOS seem like a terrible upgrade. The Maps app isn't even complete and people are already depending on it. Come on guys, be appreciative that Apple is even letting us play with betas.

Mine isn't working with anything besides Messages or Settings. Maps, Safari, Stock, Facebook, Twitter, etc all have the same ole black status bar on mine.
