Thanks . since i already updated to 7.0.3 then by your process, its too late to reset settings, so I guess I wont do that.

if you have lag in your ios device, resetting all settings seems to restore speed especially in the keyboard.

----------

There's really no reason to reset settings if you aren't having a problem. If the new iOS needs a new setting it will add a default value. If an old setting isn't used any more it's ignored. The only time you could run into a problem is if a settings usage changed and the old value isn't valid, but iOS should detect and correct that (barring bugs).

Preemptively clearing all settings prior to an update won't really do anything and if everything works after the update, there's no need to clear settings.

in general yes, you do not need to reset all settings, but I started to do it per-emptively and I have not had any issues migrating to iOS7 even through the betas. however Others have expressed problems with laggy keyboards or poor upgrades to iOS7

Not exactly, The settings>general>reset> reset all settings is something you do after the install and/or restoring a backup. That simply resets the default iOS settings for the new iOS version. It does reset network (wifi) as well so no need to do that separate. All your apps and data will remain intact. You simply need to rejoin any wifi networks, set your wallpaper back and go through the iOS settings to configure like you want them. Its rather simple process and can be done pretty quickly. Typically folks who have battery drain issues after an OTA update or iTunes restore/restore old data can do this to resolve the issue however it can also correct other strange issues. No real need to do it though unless you are having specific issue.

I'm sure it's been posted already but you can enable the zooming feature by disabling "reduce motion".

I'm on the train using my iPhone atm so can't search the forums lol.

Exactly. And now, to make matters worse, you have to choose between an ugly fade in and out with no parallax and a brief lockout of ui function or an attractive, but slightly even longer lockout animation with parallax. At this point id rather go back to the slow animation with the ability to turn off parallax independently. Oh well, maybe I'll get used to the parallax feature. I have always had it off thinking it couldn't have helped the battery

Exactly

Or they could just go back to iOS 6 animations which were cool yet unobtrusive.

I'm so sick of iOS 7 design, everything about it screams "amateur hour". The effects are flashy and tacky, the icons are butt ugly, and the whole thing lacks a cohesive vision. Using it barely feels like using an Apple product. Apple's ship needs a helmsman before they run aground.

It's got a new transition effect, which is better than the old one. Basically, the transitions are faster so I don't have to blink my way through them.

This update (7.0.3) fixed issues I was having with the fingerprint sensor recognition getting gradually worse with time. Fingerprint recognition is much faster now and works every time.:)

I really love the new fade effect when you select "Reduce Movement." It seems a lot quicker than the zoom in effect that was there before.

so why did you download something that "looks tacky" "looks amateurish" "is butt ugly"???

I mean honestly, if you had those feeling about it, why would you download it?

I think you should be blaming yourself for your dumb decision instead of criticizing design which is subjective and everyone will have different opinions on.

Probably because the device automatically downloads it?

oh, i forgot... it automatically presses the install button as well. It verifies the install, and automatically goes through the entire process. Crazy how that happens. Apple must send robots out to sneak in and update your phone while you aren't looking.

Ah...you meant install...download kept on being mentioned, so I commented on the download part of it which no one really gets a choice about.

I hope this fixes my battery life issues. The battery on my 5s has been awful. It dies on me every night. Last night I went to sleep with over 30% battery and when I woke up 7 hours later my phone was dead.

Then plug the thing in

Very helpful. So the 250 hours of standby that Apple reports is meaningless, I should just always plug it in?
Anyway I found my problem I think. It is weak LTE coverage, so I turned LTE off. Thanks for your helpful comment.

The 250 hours of standby time would essentially be with the phone in airplane mode with nothing else loaded/running on it, and even then it's still more of a theoretical time based more on calculations.

Does anyone have the issue with siri, if you hold the home button on the home screen the icons on the right aren't completely blurred?
This was an issue in beta that they fixed but seems to be back now :(

It's all blurred the same on all sides for me on my iP5.

Standby Time Tests
Testing conducted by Apple in August 2013 using preproduction iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s units and software, on both GSM and CDMA carrier networks. All settings were default except: Wi-Fi was associated with a network; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks was turned off.

Something is wrong with your phone. I'd suggest you to exchange for another one.

Interesting. Were any accounts or apps or anything else configured on the phone? Was anything running on the phone? What was the signal strength like? Was the phone moved around or in the same place with the same signal strength?

I wonder why the mention of ask to join networks being off is specifically pointed out?

Flat is not necessarily level.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Its closer but still off by 1 when laying flat. I cannot say for sure where might actually be level, but my floor, and two tables in random places, one of them should be level, not all should be exactly 1.

your house could be at a slight tilt as the foundation has settled over the years. 1* is not going to make you go sliding across the room if you sit down on the floor haha.

does the level go to 0* or skip it entirely?

I've tried it in three different buildings on campus not close to each other and get -1 in them all.

I mean there's a zero there but it never shows it unless I adjust my phone.

I had reduced motion off because I didn't like parallax but I loved the new animations. The fading doesn't feel right. I hope they separate them in a future update.

You want me to asses iOS 7 without using it? And somehow it's my fault that Apple released an inferior product?

That's pretty funny.
