Of all the eight people who quoted me, I am going to respond only to you. Screwing with their software? It's MY phone.

Also, yes, those of you who said they were patching security exploits are right. My bad. But the option to JB should be there and allowed, at MY risk.

Edit: I am happy though that they fixed the crashes. That was driving me crazy. Guess maybe next time Apple shouldn't release half-finished software to the masses. I have never felt that Apple had ever released a version of iOS that was buggy before, but they did it with iOS 7 in order to meet the deadline. They should have waited and not given in to the pressure to get it out there and done it right the first time.

That option to JB is an avenue that allows other malicious software a way in by using the same hooks that a JB does. I'm with Apple on this. I want my phone secure. You think it's just your risk, but if the option is there, it is EVERYONE's risk.

And iPhone OS 3, iOS 4, iOS 5, iOS 6 were all extremely buggy on first release. About the only one they did well at first time as iPhone OS 2.

absolutely fine on my iPad 3.

Apple Releases iOS 7.1 With CarPlay, Touch ID Improvements, Visual Tweaks

This is not a debate topic, but if you can't see it, you are blind my friend.

Airplay works fine on my mums iPhone 5, obviously there's something wrong with yours, have you tried actually resetting the phone? Restoring it from fresh? Is your wifi working? Or did you just want to bitch and moan?

Additionally, I can debate whatever I please, as it's an open forum, also this thread has had many debates already, what's one more?

I'm not blind, I'm just not immature to throw around 'Apple is going downhill' along with an Uninformative claim of a problem, which may be easily resolved.

Dang, I see it now. Very faint.

I hope it's a bug. If not, what's the point of having it when it can barely be seen?
The phone is turning off, so I guess it's not as important to really see it in full brightness in the eyes of Apple.

You having an issue ≠ widespread issue.

I just tested AirPlay with 3 different iPhone 5s running iOS 7.1 (family members), as an iPad 4 and an iPhone 5S, with no issues.

Also, based on just about every single one of your other posts on this site, you're literally looking for something just to complain about.

Anybody having battery life issues with 7.1 on an iP5?

After an overnight charge and morning of light usage, I've already consumed 10%.

Using the same settings as 7.06, which didn't have any issues.

Prior to that, 7.03 was ok, then 7.04 was initially ok before something triggered a similar drain. Updating to 7.06 cured that, and all was well. (all updates through iTunes, not OTA)

I wish I knew what it is that causes this Jeckyll/Hyde behavior where any potential update might trigger this issue. I realize that 7.1 is a major change, and just might be hungrier, but it's annoying that each update is like playing Russian roulette.

Nothing has changed in terms of usage or settings, but the fact that the same version (in my case, 7.04) can go "bad" for whatever reason, is annoying.

Typically when doing OTA its best to close all apps before running the update. (I know they are really running so to speak but clearing out memory beforehand helps with the OTA update) Sometimes, for example, the mail app can hang up during an update and keep trying to connect causing drain of battery. Usually a settings>general>reset> and either "network settings" or "reset all settings" will solve it. A LOT of the time if there is an issue and folks say restore as new and dont restore backup you actually can if you just do the reset all settings after you restore the backup. It is known to solve weird issues especially with battery. iOS 7.1 itself is not causing the battery drain.

Try it on an iPad. It crashes it all the time

I just tried it on my iPad Air and no crash. On the iPad Air the whole page loads in about 1 second at the main page. Even went to a few directory sub-pages, just really quick loads and no crashes. This is the first time I have gone to that site so the fast loading was not related to caching the pages.

It is impressive how quick web pages load with Safari in iOS 7.1. Notice I did not state the other over used word :D

I did however get Safari to crash on my iPad Air when I searched for "Super White Granite" on yahoo.com, went to images, pressed the load more images button maybe once or twice and selected a picture that was showing the granite in a kitchen. Safari was the only application that was running. It is frustrating when this to happens.

Music app now displays albums in different order

Does anyone know how I can revert the order in which albums are displayed? They used to be organised from older to newer and now it's the other way around. Is anyone else having this issue?

Quick Question

Did any one who updated to 7.1 on their 4S have the greyed out / broken wifi problem?

Did 7.1 fix it?

My sister's wifi is broken but she lives really far away so I want to know if this will help before I even reccomend it to her. Thanks in advance.

Finally

Letting go of my nostalgia.

The iPhone 4 I use as music streamer is alive again, except for typing, which lags like its 1998.

Are you sure this will remove the lag?!

Anyone else having lag on iPhone 5?!

My iPhone 5 is fine it seems, but I'm having MASSIVE lag on my iPad Air. # It started immediately after the iPad rebooted after the update, I could barely input my passcode to unlock it! press a key, wait ten seconds, enter next number. not good.

Also Control Center is just gone...swipe up from the bottom, nothing happens. I checked it in the Settings, toggled it off and on, no dice. I can still see the little tab where you swipe up on the lock screen, but I can't swipe it, no response.

I can't even reply to this forum on the iPad, there's too much lag while typing (posting from my lag-free iPhone). literally seven seconds after each key press.
I've rebooted twice, and did the home button/reboot...no better.
I'll give it a few more tries, but looks like a fresh install is in my future?

Testing further, any time the on screen keyboard comes up, there is incredible lag. But my iPhone 5 is perfectly fine.

any ideas. thanks.

I have no issues on my air, maybe try restoring from a backup, if that doesn't help, restore as new, if no joy still, take it to an apple store as something is wrong. It's buttery smooth on mine.

I prefer to do my updates thru iTunes whenever possible, so I can't speak about the OTA experience, except to say that I still don't trust the file management/housekeeping routines when doing OTA updates, so I certainly wouldn't be doing OS updates OTA.

Last time I did an OTA app update, the update notice got stuck in the App Store app's update list and wouldn't go away. It persisted even after deleting and re-installing the app, but eventually went away on its own.

As for the battery drain, I got bugged enough to do a complete erase/reset of the phone, and restored from a backup, even though some say that doing a restore can cause problems to return.

The phone has been sitting unused for more than six hours, and is still at 100%. So far, so good, but we'll see what happens going forward. Compared to yesterday, when the battery slowly drained itself as the phone sat idle, this could be a good sign.

A nice side effect of the erase/restore was that it freed up a gig of space on the phone, presumably from the Other files being cleared of cached files. They'll come back as the apps are used again, but for now, it's nice to know that there's no detritus occupying space on the phone.

Music App still bad

Who cares about design tweaks and bouncing control center?

I don't.

Music App - OK, so they at least fixed the album sorting - not it's showing artist's albums chronologically from the newest one to the oldest one. So far so good. Better than that mess before.
Another fix - now when I want to shuffle just one album from the Artist Tab, it does so - it would shuffle all the song from all the albums of that artist before. Good.

But do all the albums have to be rolled out? Same example as I've already mentioned before - I've got over 30 albums from The Cure - when I open this artist and want to play some song from the oldest album I have scroll through 360 songs to get there! It doesn't make sense at all. Why can't I just see only the albums without all the songs?

Same goes for Artist list - why there have to be those nonsense images for each artist? This way I get to see only 4 of them on iPhone 5S where I could see at least 8 without these pictures. This would make scrolling and finding the artist much easier.

Song search - when I'm at Songs Tab and go for search I want to search for particular song - why is it giving me results for songs, artist, albums and maybe million other things?

Now Playing - please please replace Repeat and Shuffle with icons again as it is much better for use that this - I click on Repeat, the list pops up and I have to choose. Cumbersome.

Don't get me even started on Video App - still as bad as before - no info at all for any videos I've got. Just random thumbnails.

Dear Apple - I though you've always been music lovers! Doesn't seem like it anymore.

I have no problem at nin.com on safari on my iphone 5s.

As I've mentioned in this thread, the larger the screen resolution, the more memory a particular Web page will be allocated.

On an iPhone, it's not more than (roughly) 100-120Mbytes; on a 64-bit (that is, Retina) iPad, easily 350-400 Mbytes.

The latter, assuming you have less than 350 Mbytes free RAM (you've run something after the last reboot and haven't killed the app), can easily lead to instant crash.

It doesn't seem to be a HW issue. Just restore without restoring any backup.

You might not have enough space available to update.

Good thinking but I have 1.4gb available and the update is just 214mb, so space doesn't seem to be the issue?

....I noticed this on my wife's iPhone 4 - she only had 1.4gb of storage left on her phone and the update was showing as only being 200 odd mb however, it said it needed 1.6gb to install!? She had to end up deleting stuff just to get it to install.........

Something which I notice - on my iPad 2 and iPhone 5, which are both on the latest iOS pre iOS 7.1, is that Notifications on one device still do not clear when read on the other device?

Emails work (when I read emails on one device, they show as 'read' on the other device) however, iMessages do not?! I can get an iMessage on my iPad 2, so obviously I get the Notification on my iPhone 5 as well, however, when I then read it on my iPad 2, I still have the red circle with a '1' inside it on the Messaging app on my iPhone 5 (and vice versa).

Aren't these supposed to clear from the device once read from the other device...?

As many others have said in this thread, In regards to space, the download is 200 odd MB but it's a compressed file, so it needs space to decompress and allow for files generated by update, then they'll remove themselves once done. It's only a temporary need.

As for iMessage, my notifications on iPad disappear when I read on iPhone and vice versa. Unsure as to why yours are not.
