Any app issues before I install it on my phone? Especially apps that use BT hardware?

Does anybody know if the 3G/EDGE toggle is still available for iPhone 4/4S users? And how do apps look like who are designed in the native UI (Twitter app version below 3, WhatsApp, old eBay, Recipes and so on)- will they adapt?

On the iPhone 5 you still have the 3G toggle so I guess it would be on the 4/4S, apps all look "normal" as far as I can see.

My attempt at making the icons less hideous.

this would basically fix any of my problems with icon design... i think they really missed on safari and some of the colors are a little bright and thats why a lot of people think it feels childish and bubbly

A couple of things I've noticed so far while running it on an iPhone 4:

- Clock icon is live, shows correct time with a moving second hand
- Newsstand icon can be moved into a folder
- Wallpaper doesnt "move" but then that's probably down to it not having a retina screen
- Same for the Weather icon, backgrounds don't move but again, probably due to non-Retina screen
- It's pretty quick, a bit laggy in places but nothing major.

So far, a good release for the entry level iPhone model. If I find anything else, I'll report back!

The iPhone 4 has a Retina screen. My guess for the missing features are hardware limitations.

Any idea why i'm getting this error? Device is registered on my developer account and has been for the past 5 months! iTunes is up to date. iPhone 5 is on iOS 6.1.4. Correct build has been downloaded.

EDIT: sorry, missed the bit you said you were registered. Probably then you downloaded the wrong build. Remember there are 2 builds for the 2 different models of iPhone 5.

Reboot both devices and try again? Just a thought. Not to doubt you downloaded the correct build, but maybe try the other one just to rule out a dumb mistake?

Not necessary! Just download the file per the instructions. I just updated my 5 an hour ago via the method explained here. I do not have a developer account nor did I need to pay to register my UDID

It will not work unless your device is registered. Are you sure you never registered your device, did someone own it before you, or did you ever participate in a beta/trial for an app? It definitely doesn't work unless you are registered.

Attempted rebooting everything.

It says A1429 on the back of my phone so thats what I initially downloaded! Will try A1428 just to rule that out as suggested.

Edit: tried both A1429 and A1428. Neither work. Any other suggestions?

Then maybe I am very lucky. I bought this phone brand new in February.

I have signed up for the "free" developer's thing, where you can get info on making apps etc., but have not ever paid Apple for an account. I tried to get the ipsw file from Apple's dev site using my Apple ID but it said I wasn't authorized or whatever- because I've never paid for an account.

I don't think what I've done would make a difference- if that's all it takes then everyone can do it. Didn't cost me a dime.

I just realized...what the hell?! People have important voice memos going years back...

:O Also, anyone know right off hand how to get to Spotlight?

I used to swipe to the right from my home screen all the time to do quick Google searches. I don't really want to "talk" to my phone/Siri for everything. They listen to you, you know. That's kinda creepy. LOL...

Edit- I see you can swipe down from the home screen to access Spotlight, but there doesn't seem to be an option to search the web like before. Bummer.

What do you guys think about the "unlock" hint (or the "answer" text/button for an incoming call) ... I am an iOS user since version 1, therefore i know by heart how to unlock or answer a call, but for new users, just reading the word "unlock", without any further hints on actually "how" to do that (push, swipe, drag, throw ... whatever) ... that's just weird.
On my first look at the new lock screen, I even wondered whether they maybe changed the unlocking gesture ... until my muscle memory kicked in.

Was really hoping the new icons would look better in person, they don't. So far there is a lot more I don't like about the new design then I do like. :(

Is it worth paying $99 for this? I will have it on my iPhone 5 (main phone) and I really want to try it. I am also interested in developing but I currently have no experience. Is it true when beta 1 expires the phone will be unusable? Should I go for it?

Will it delete all my content on my phone?
Will I be able to downgrade?
Will all apps work with it? :D

If you choose update instead of restore, you don't need to be registered.

Ugly

I must be the only one, but I think the icons looks ugly and the colours are too bright. What's going on? Who's approving this terrible design?
No more Job's quality control....

another question... are itunes radio ads visual or audio?

Both. As in- every so often (I didn't listen to it that much, mind you) a short ad plays and you can only skip songs so often before it won't let you anymore. Until you change the channel! :)

No, you're not the only one. I think this is the main complaint from the majority of users so far. It seems that we've swapped Forstall's skeuomorphism for Ive's kiddie toy preference... It really is quite shocking that no-one stopped this icon design coming out, I'd imagine everyone is scared to speak up what with the recent firings of top staff.

Apple copied the MUI icon pack from Android. Not to mention the lockscreen, notification center, swipe to dismiss notifications and close apps on the multi task page. Not a single feature is innovative, just copied from Android or WebOS. I'm really surprised they didn't copy Android's widget concept, but I guess they have to save some new features for IOS 8.

Is it worth paying $99 for this?

No. It's a beta. Wait 3 months and you can have the finished version for free. Unless you are a developer I can't understand why people pay $99 for buggy beta software that will be distributed for free very soon. But I guess to each their own.
