The installation was a breeze! The download speed was extremely fast after hours of Gateway error on Apple's dev site...

Some of my top issues:

1. I don't like the genie effect when you exit and app or enter a folder. It looks "low quality"
2. Some icons look low-quality, kind of fuzzy.. I am not sure how to describe it, like seeing something not optimized for retina. e.g. the phone icon. Maybe I am just crazy.
3. it's kind of laggy in some instances which is understandable as this is first public seed.
4. In photo, when you zoom all the way out in the "photos" mode, everything looks overlapped and jammed together. Must be a UI bug of some sort. This is the same as Calendar event. Time stamps will overlap if current time is very close to the hourly time marker.

What are the circles next to AT&T on the top supposed to represent? Is that supposed to be what the new cell signal is supposed to look like?

Hmmm...I liked having the weather information on the notification screen. Not an option anymore. Sucks.

Does anybody experience that the device is extremely hot all the time after the update? Seems if something is processing all the time. I have installed it first time as an update with my old apps, and thought it was it, so I installed as a fresh copy and still.. the device is hot as hell..

Overall, like any Beta, has bugs. But I'm loving the flat design! Feels like a totally new phone, buts still an iPhone :)

Performance in the simulator on my rMBP is pretty poor. Lots of laggy animations. How is it on the device?

Any idea when it will be released to the general public? Obviously it won't be for awhile but I'm hoping middle/late summer instead of Fall...

A bit laggy I would say. Maybe all of those effects warm up the device. I think iPhone 5S will perform better :) How is performance on iPhone 4?

Sorry, but the entire homescreen looks terrible. Comparing it side-by-side with a device running iOS 6 it looks atrocious—a lot of the design changes seem to exist solely for change's sake.

I will concede that some of the OS does look better, but in general this is just an horrific mess which has "rushed" written all over it... I say this as someone who has owned every single iPhone model as well as multiple other Apple products, and as a shareholder.

From the WWDC preview of what was shown, the OS looked pretty good. The screen shots here look cr8ptacular. Maybe on the device it looks nicer as the depth cannot be shown through screen shots. And I'm hoping this isn't the final design as Apple does make changes during beta. This is coming from someone who is a share holder too :)

Yes they have finally brought a phone and message block feature

This is the main feature am looking forward to lol. To block phone or sms or FaceTime for people who you don't want to contact you. Can the beta testers test this out and explain if it works the same way as the android one does. Or has apple made it slightly better?

The whole new iOS 7 looks amazing. Cannot wait to get it.

Update issue...

Do I have to do a complete wipe with the beta? I tried doing the update method (option+update, find beta file), but it crashed then I had to restore my iPhone from a backup with iOS 6.

Would someone who has already installed the beta be able to post regarding the new Safari parental controls that were mentioned? Also weather there have been any updates to the restrictions panel in the settings menu. :)

anyone? any help would be appreciated haha :)

I just did the option+update, and it worked without hiccup.

I saw a place where you can add people on the blocked list, but didn't test it out yet.. You can only choose from your contact list though..

Have there been any upgrades to spotlight?

I have been hoping that spotlight would be upgraded with the ability to search within documents or via tags for a long time now. I was excited when I saw that OS X was getting a tagging feature, but no mention of it carrying over to iOS.

So, can someone with the beta please try and see if spotlight can find documents via keyword or tags? If so, I think apple has finally got a semi decent replacement for ios lacking a file system.

A couple of things I've noticed so far while running it on an iPhone 4:

- Clock icon is live, shows correct time with a moving second hand
- Newsstand icon can be moved into a folder
- Wallpaper doesnt "move" but then that's probably down to it not having a retina screen
- Same for the Weather icon, backgrounds don't move but again, probably due to non-Retina screen
- It's pretty quick, a bit laggy in places but nothing major.

So far, a good release for the entry level iPhone model. If I find anything else, I'll report back!

I just installed it on my iPhone 4 and its very slow, it almost seems unusable.

Can someone post just the file name which Apple lets you download for an iPhone 5 A1428 model so that i can search it from the newsgroups?

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone confirm if automatic app updates can be deactivated and/or on a per-app-rule?

It looks like it's just a yes/no switch currently.

As an aside, it appears that Spotlight Search is now accessed from swiping from the top, rather than existing to the left of the home screen.
