Yeah, that's what I started doing (using the notes app). Now, I am slow typing longer and longer posts in Safari and I have yet to have it freeze.

I definatly think its fixed. Been typing loads of long posts in various forums since 8.1.1 and no problems so far. Safari in general is better now. I no longer get the "blank white page" till you started scrolling nor do I have the bug where links couldn't be clicked until you also started scrolling :D

iOS 8.1.1

Downloaded 8.1.1 to my iPad 2 this morning: everything works faster as a result. Was on the point of using it as a paperweight.

I've had a crash earlier this week...My Air2 became suddenly became really hot and completely shut down forcing a restart...It also happened to me in the first week !

It seems like that's a hardware defect, then, not an issue with 8.1.1. Wifi may actually work much better for the vast majority of people.

UPDATE: Replacement iP6+ connected to my WiFi right out of the box. I then did a restore of my data from iTunes and it still works.

So, it was an intermittent hardware bug that plagued me from day 1.

Good luck, all.

Feed back on IOS8.1.1

Anyone with relevant feedback regarding this update, please let me know :)

Works just okay on my IPad 2. Rather annoying on fb in fact!
To comment you have to scroll down to the comment box in order to edit your comment, used to center on the comment box when you clicked on comment line.
About 1/2 way through the post, cursor jumps to the start of the box so you need to cut and paste to return to proper position. IN THE MIDDLE OF A WORD!! Not just occasionally, all the time!
If you find that you still want to go back and edit after posting, it takes 3, 4, 5, or more attempts to finally reach the proper screen allowing you to perform this activity.

Just received IOS 8.1.2

I just received IOS 8.1.2 early this evening on my IPad 2.
Am wondering whether to just live with the mess as it is now or install and regain my "guinea pig" status. Any suggestions out there? Once I commit to it, I don't know how I'll get back if things are worse yet.

After two weeks of testing, Apple has released iOS 8.1.1, a minor update that includes several bug fixes. Apple first seeded the iOS 8.1.1 beta to developers on November 3.

iOS 8.1.1 is available immediately as an over-the-air download. Apple has also released new Apple TV software and an update to OS X Yosemite, OS X 10.10.1.

According to Apple's release notes, iOS 8.1.1 includes bug fixes and increased stability and performance improvements for both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s, two of the older devices that support the operating system.

iOS 8.1.1 may offer several bug fixes, but as a minor update, it does not bundle in any of the major new features that are rumored for iOS 8, like improvements to Maps and split-screen multitasking for the iPad. These updates may come in iOS 8.2 or iOS 8.3, both of which Apple is rumored to be working on.
