Will this update do anything to keep my iPad battery from going to zero in a week - without being used?

Not likely that anyone can tell what an update might or might not do when it comes to someone's device. If you are experiencing some sort of issues it might be worth upgrading to see if it might help.

Aug 20 and no 13.6.1 for me yet. I’m on 13.6.

Does anyone know if this fixes the problem where tapping the sleep button terminates a voice call in progress?

I have always tapped the sleep button to save battery on long phone calls.

Now, if it do it, the call ends.

Perhaps you have a beta profile installed?

As for the sleep button, it ends the call if you are just on the phone, but if you have headphones or Bluetooth connected and using for the call then the it should just turn the screen off.
