Nice addition to that set of iPad commercials.

They showed off touch typing (I think this was the first time).

I also caught the comment about "full size". LOL I guess all those 7" tablets are "half size". Apple has great marketing, no doubt.

When is that fantasy game in the ad coming out? I want to really play that! :D

It's called "Epic Citadel" and is currently available. Unfortunately it's only a demo of iOS device gaming capability (unless something has changed in the past few weeks), so more of a walkthrough environment than an actual "game". The demo is extremely impressive, however, and really conveys the vast gaming potential of iPod/iphone/iPad.

How do you plug your Electric Guitar into an iPad?

Looks like the commercial shows an electric guitar plugged into it.

It was a very deliberate statement saying "iPad is the standard. Smaller tablets are lesser"

What I like about Apple ads is that they actually show the product (user interface) in action.

Competition's example:

"Oh, a dude is jumping from one dream to another, that product must be awesome!". Typical BS marketing. They BARELY show the actual product!

I feel the same way. But we all know why most other companies don't show the UI for their devices: 'cuz it sucks!

An actual EPIC game is coming out before christmas though. The tech demo is amazing. Can't wait to see a real EPIC Engine game.

The commercial is another faceless ad marketing socialized computing. Get yo apps!

Empowered with info, but, useless.

Ipad electric instruments will never be hifi enough for me to take it as a replacement over any serious rig or synth.

Gawd.

Well, aren't you just full of unicorns and rainbows today. :p

It's not intended to be, but it does make a good practice setup when you need to use headphones so you don't annoy your neighbors with your playing.

... or your base, the way one guy did in my squadron while I was in the military. Had so many amps confiscated from him that he had his Audio/Photo Club privileges yanked within 6 months of arriving on base. Seemed to think he was the best guitarist in Germany and tried to serenade the entire base--until I blew up his last amp with a power surge.

Heh, could hear cheering from every other barracks in range when that amp blew. He tried to make me replace the amp and the First Sergeant flat told him 'NO!'

Point is that sometimes you simply need a low-volume/headphone kit to practice on. Obviously you wouldn't use the iPad's app for any kind of real performance unless it's for recording only.

I think it shows 2 different games, the First is definitely Epic Citadel (which is based on the Unreal Engine) the second game screen shows 2 knights about to do battle and I just haven't been able to find any NPC types in that game. it is all walking around an empty Citadel. with no other characters insight... it could be that they are showing a future release based on the unreal engine or some other thing ... or maybe i cant find the other characters in the demo...

The Epic Citadel guys showed off the two knights fighting in their tech teaser trailer. And they demo'd the game where you fought head to head using two devices live at an Apple event. (Fighting by swiping spots on the iPad.)

I think the event was WWDC. You can look for the event video in iTunes to see it yourself. As far as I know, the Knight fighting part is not available for download yet.

Now I get it...but not really...Golden Master???:D

I think it dates back to the days of mass produced CD's. (Although it might be a term carried forward from good old Vinyl Records.)

Once software was completed, a master disc was sent to a CD Reproduction House where a metal plate was made to stamp the CD's. (Yeah, believe it or not, mass produced CD's are stamped, not burned...)

Meh, I just want them to release iPad 2 so I can finally buy one.

Me too!

Great ad BTW. The product is definitely the hero in a way that just wouldn't work for most products. Visually the iPad pretty much sells itself!

iPad is "magical". iPad is "electric". Talk about dumbing down to the lowest common denominator.

I remember the days when only smart and intelligent people had Macs. Now they're being sold to the hoi-polloi. ;)

Oh gosh, yes… let's return to the days where we Mac users could revel in our minority superiority! Please…

I think the ads are fun. Smart people don't have fun too? :)

Listen,

Meh, I just want them to release iPad 2 so I can finally buy one.

Do you know when they are going to release iPad 2? I would really like to buy one and just tired of the wait.

I have a feeling you know exactly when.

Help with some advice.:D
