The camera possibility is very exciting. I am beginning to think it actually might come with a camera. The probelm is that this breeds these thoughts and sets up people to have a bigger disappointment if the camera does not get included.

Apple has to know people are looking at these and seeing "Camera"!!

edit - okay - several others have made this same observation, so I'm redundant...

I think :apple: is offering the 'camera connection kit' accessory to attach your camera, or it's memory card to the iPad to be able to upload photos 'on the go'
The Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera. The Camera Connector lets you import your photos and videos to iPad using the camera’s USB cable. Or you can use the SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from the camera’s SD card.

It's on the specs page... http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

Not sure if it has been noted but it went back to Beta 3 on the dev center. It was Beta 2, refreshed and there Beta 3 was.

i want a camera just as much as the next (its the reason y im not buying one), but isnt there an ipad camera accessory kit? maybe thats what it means by camera?

didnt read the other pages. no need to read this post.

Yeah it's back but the build number is the same. Can someone PM what the bug is please because I've installed it and haven't came across anything major yet?

Considering this wasn't in prior builds, I'm beginning to believe the theory that it makes no sense to announce hardware (i.e. camera) when the software support isn't ready yet. That simply isn't Apple's style.

Though, from what I understand, you have to give the FCC the final product for testing, so it has to be in there for the public to get it, otherwise we're gonna have to wait for version 2.0.

Is the bug resolved??? I don't want to go through the motions for nothing.

If someone PMs what the bug was I'll tell you. I have the first version installed just now and the second downloaded and ready to install. FYI, although the build numbers are reported as the same an MD5 on the disk images shows they are different. If someone tells me what the bug is I can check on my current install and then immediately install the newer version to see if it is resolved.

Mobile OS X ?

With iPhone OS now running on two non-phone devices (iPod Touch and iPad), wouldn't it make sense if Apple renamed the OS sometime soon?
Say, around the release of the SDK for version 4.0 ?

How about Mobile OS X ? It would both distinguish itself from being "just a phone OS", AND it would send a clear signal about its common technical underpinnings with Mac OS X.

What say you?

It might be a little early for renaming it still. I think for the moment the familiar name might make people more comfortable with the idea that they can get "the same thing" on the iPad as they have on their phone.

I see what you mean. But hey, early adopters of the iPad will have from late March until June/July to get comfy with the OS, still under its old iPhone OS 3.2 name, right? :)

A camera that takes still photos on something small like a phone/iPod makes sense. A camera that takes still photos on a laptop or desktop even makes sense. A still photo camera on an iPad would make no sense at all. No one's gonna hold that thing up to take photos. So I agree with the folks that think that this is all about the accessory kit.

I'd be a whole lot happier about the iPad if they would just release the new MBPs. Right now I sick of hearing iPad news. Release the new MacBook Pros!!

What is with you folks yelling about the MacBook Pros every day? If you need a new computer, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the models currently in the stores. I guarantee that hardly any of you would even be able to tell the difference in performance between the current models and whatever update Apple is working on. Or is it a case of needing to have the latest and greatest specs?

"Camera" tab in iPad SDK

I'm sure somebody must have noticed this by now, but isn't the camera tab almost certainly integrated with the iPad camera connect kit?

Pregunta

Can you have the same OS with different UI's? MOstly I am curious if the ipad and iphone will end up with the same UI? It seems pretty clear to me at least that the ipad UI wouldnt work for the small screen of the iphone/ipod and vice versa. So is there some UI that will come out in 4.0 that will unite the UI's in some interesting way or will they remain seperate given their relative screen sizes?

Cnet is saying that Beta 3 is back up, but I dont see it on apple's website. Only Beta 2. maybe you need to be a dev to access it?

They'll remain separate because of touch, not screen size. There's no pretty way to have a mouse cursor in a touch OS. However, someday, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ability to run iPhone apps on the mother OS, much as devs can now do with the simulator.
