I click update, but then it says the resource is not available

Hmm. I guess it is after all sort of the 11th. I got that, too. I clicked D&U, dialog box dismissed, then it just went back to showing I was up to date. Clicked Check For Update button again, got the usual "your iPhone software (4.2.1) is up to date. Did it again, got the 4.3 update dialog again, but again it wouldn't updated.

Excuse me, Mr. Croupier, could I just pick up my chips off that there black 11, please?

Update: yeah, me too: downloading now, slow as molasses

my roommate has a mac mini G4 w/10.5 and I do updates on it periodically, sometimes it just won't work, iTunes especially, gives me weird errors, sometimes if there are more than one upate, update items one at a time, restart the computer, doing iTunes last. OR if that doesn't' work, you may have to go to apple's website and download the update and install it manually instead of using the software update app.

No idea what the problem is, but since installing iTunes 10.2.1 (which didn't take) and the new Java update, my old Powerbook G4 appears to have drawn it's terminal breath.
It was dog slow after the updates, and now it doesn't boot. It may have eaten another HD, but it's so old now that it isn't worth fixing..
I doubt the updates caused it?
Anyway, it was backed up a couple of weeks ago, so there won't be much lost.

error

new iTunes crashes after just a few seconds, leaving me with this:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000008
Crashed Thread: 7 Dispatch queue: FigFPSharedContextFPInitializationQueue

Anyone know how to make it better?

down on downloading

No, I have not heard of any problems with installing third-party apps with 10.6.6. What exactly does not work? You download the app, you drag it to where you want to place it or run an installer if one is provided. What part of this does not work for you? The downloading, the dragging or running the installer?

All seems to download, but it doesn't work. For example, the Blackberry desktop app downloads and I get a screen that tells me to connect my phone. I connect the phone, nothing happens, there is no arrow or next button - nothing that you can do.

With Firefox the tech took me through the motions and you get a download box but no working Firefox. I am at work now on a pc not my mac :( so hard to be specific. We WERE able to download Google Earth.

One app opened an Excel spreadsheet with code in it instead of running. It's very strange. I think that was a .ips file. I'm not a tecchie so don't remember it all, but I had an apple support person and then her supervisor. They had to go and find the newest version of Snow Leopard and the newer itunes b/c they did not have it on their macs.

Why all the negative ratings for a itunes update

I can't speak for others, but on my PowerMac (PPC) server running Leopard I've had two OS freezes today since installing the 10.2.1 update while the machine has been rock solid for several months under 10.1.1. Fortunately, I made a backup of my library and iTunes 10.1.1 app before updating and have reverted back to the stable version of iTunes. That doesn't mean it is unstable on Intel, though. I've had iTunes updates before that were only unstable on PPC machines. The problem is that a server that is on 24/7 running a whole house system needs to be stable and Apple's tendency for constant updates to support constant hardware updates means that every update has to be monitored for stability over time. If you're just using it to load crap onto an iOS device, it doesn't matter much, but if it's driving multiple Apple TV and Airport Express units the last thing you want to find is it stops working on the other side of the house (or while downloading a large file in the background). iTunes did feel faster for scrolling through my huge library (not that it felt slow before, but this felt effortless), but that doesn't do me any good if the machine is going to randomly freeze every couple of hours.

I also updated Java and Safari, but I don't believe they were running either time it froze today. Safari is supposedly faster and maybe it is on javascript pages, etc., but it feels slower in the interface in general to me than a few versions ago and I don't just mean on my PowerMac, but also on my MBP. Just hovering the mouse over the menu bar menus after loading it up I feel "pauses" at first that I don't remember on older versions, which used to feel quite snappy on both machines. My home page takes considerably longer to load on the PowerMac than Firefox 3.x (faster on the MBP, but the menu bar menus are still slow at first). I don't know what would cause those particular types of delays.

If I'm not mistaken, that's what the mode that Macs in the Apple Stores run iTunes in, in order to prevent customers from syncing. You got that on your personal Mac?

Yes, and I used the same install image file for both computers. The one that doesn't show "Activation-only" is my iOS syncing MBP. The .DMG was downloaded from the Apple support site.

Strange.

Maybe it's just my eyes, but it looks like they toned down the brushed metal effect a bit on the window.

Anyone have this happen???

I installed the new iTunes 10.2.1 and it was if though I'd never used iTunes before. All my files (mp3's, video's, podcasts, & APPS!) were missing and not loaded in to the library. My files were all still on my external HD luckily. I had to add all my 23,000+ files. I had to hook my iPhone up and transfers my purchases before updating to iOS 4.3. Worst of all, the apps that I had downloaded in the past for my iPhone and that I had rotated off the device were now gone. I have over 600 apps, presently 337 on my iPhone. I can't remember 300+ apps so as to go download them for free again. Why does Apple keep making things difficult?

This happened to me when running 10.6.6 10J3210 (from MBP early 2011) on my MacPro. I fixed it by removing /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework (back it up somewhere).

You misunderstood me... I said the distance you are from the VRAD determines the profile you are on... a 19mb profile can provide 1 HD stream and 3 SD streams. A 25mb profile is capable of 2 HD streams and 2 SD streams, and a 32mb profile can provide 3 HD streams and 1 SD stream... All fo these profiles are available via FTTN with copper backhaul from the VRAD. In no case does anyone get 5 streams off of a single account. The current hardware in the field is not capable of this.

I'm not going to argue with you but rest assured that the information I am providing you is correct. If you want to PM me your area, I will tell you exactly what is in the ground from your residence all the way to the VHO.

Bangin my head against the wall trying to figure out how to PM you. There is no link or button for that and I have some Q's for u regarding Uverse and profiles...

Click on his name, of the things that drop down "send private message to ..." should be one of the options. Additionally, you can go to his profile and do a similar thing from the ~"Contact Me" tab/section.

Was excited for a new version of iTunes for a second, lol :D

Sorry I'm a noobie to this forum so forgive my posting of something irrelevant to this thread. Maybe it's cause I just joined but this those options aren't available to me.

Flame away
