I noticed it now matches my 24bit/88khz Apple lossless rips.

Previously they were labeled ineligible.

Devices not appearing...

Am I the only one for whom iPad and iPhone devices are no longer appearing in iTunes when connected to the machine?

WiFi Sync isn't seeing the machine either.

I'm only seeing movies in iTunes on my MacBook that are in 720p. Is it because my laptop is older and may not support 1080p?

It just that there is not a whole lot of 1080 content yet. I'm still trying to locate some 1080 movies from the itunes store in Canada. Lots of 1080 TV shows though.

I still see an issue where I have to enter in my password twice in order to use itunes. Anyone else experience this?

Nope. Just happened for me too. They were there after I updated to 10.6. But now I rebooted my Mac and now none of my iPhones or iPads show up in the iTunes sidebar as connected so I can't sync over Wifi. Great.

1080p bug in iTunes

There's some hiccups with 1080p videos in the Windows version of iTunes. I have it installed on a PC that exceeds the minimum specs for watching 1080p video, which Apple says is:

To play 1080p HD video on a PC, you need a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor, 2GB of RAM, and an Intel GMA X4500HD, ATI Radeon HD, or NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS or better graphics processor.

First, when I switched the preferences setting from 720p to 1080p, a warning pops up that:

This computer may not be able to play 1080p videos. You can still download these videos for use on other devices.

I pressed OK and downloaded the 1080p version. When I tried to play it on my 30" Apple Cinema Display, the box popped up:

Video is too large. The 1080p version of [title] is too large to play on this computer. You can choose to play a smaller 720p version of this movie below. This message will be dismissed in XX seconds.

You have 3 choices: Play smaller version, OK or Cancel. If you pick OK or just let the timer run out, the 1080p video actually plays without a problem.

Anyone else seeing this?

Seeing the exact same thing on a Mac mini and an iMac. Same results as you experienced, right down to eventually playing the content just fine. Strange....

Some crashing issues.

itunes crashes every time I try to resize a 1080p movie via the transport menu. My library is on an external drive. Wonder if it is just an isolated issue or if anyone else has experienced this. I'm running 10.6.8.:(

Has anyone tried doing the rematch process on their itunes? I would assume you would have to remove the file from itunes to rematch the songs assuming they didn't make a change where you could retry scanning the file without removing it from itunes first. What I have found works the best for me to do a large number of files to rematch them is to find all of my uploaded songs and 'create a (insert default import music file format) copy' then I delete the original that was uploaded and rescan those files. My own experience is by changing the file from ACC to MP3 gives me a couple new matches and also going from ACC to Apple lossless has provided me with matches that were previously uploaded. I've gone from a total of about 280 uploaded songs to about 240 uploaded songs. Sorry for wasting your time but I was wondering how helpful the update was for matching songs that were previously uploaded.

I've seen reports of people trying to match again elsewhere, and so far none of them have seen any improvement. I'm skeptical it actually is improved. Probably not worth spending any time trying to rematch until people start seeing improvements.

Also, downloading the 1080p video doesn't automatically download the 720p HD and 480p SD versions. Before 1080p video was introduced, selecting the HD (720p) version automatically downloaded the SD copy as well. I suppose this could be intentional on Apple's part but I think it's a bug because even after going into preference and changing the preferred download back to 720p, selecting the HD version no longer downloads the SD copy. At this point, the only way to get all three versions is to manually select each one in the Apple Store. It's a pain and I can't believe this is Apple's way of making "it just works." Too many hoops to jump through.

Here's the question- if I change my preferences to 1080p, but only have 2nd gen Atv, will the Atv pull the 720p version from apple servers, or will iTunes send the Atv a 720P version?

I downloaded a single 1080p episode of Lost, as soon as I full screened it iTunes crashed.

10.6.8 also, with everything on the main Hard Disk

So I went through and rematched all of my songs that were uploaded. It matched 12 songs that it didn't match before. I guess it is "improved" matching but then again I'm not 100% sure that most of the 217 songs I have left are actually in the iTunes store.

Unfortunately, it's not all freebies. Blu-ray redemption "digital copy" movies now show up as purchased on iTMS, but if you re-download, you don't get 1080p... you just get the more or less SD version you had before. One surmises direct iTMS purchases are not hindered by this restriction.

I think the HD/SD combo was intended for back when mobile devices could not handle HD versions. The only one out there currently sold that only handles SD is the 3GS iPhone. Everything else handles HD, so it no longer makes sense to always download a useless SD copy...
