I'm just waiting for the day that Apple decides to make iTunes about music (or even media in general), and separates all of the other stuff from it.

There should be an iTunes Store app for Mac, like there is for iOS. Music and Videos apps for Mac, like there are for iOS. I know it would be rather ballsy because of how huge iTunes is, but Apple isn't one to be shy of change. I think it would make the experience a whole lot better.

I agree, and at least it one point so did Steve Jobs. The iTunes ecosystem is overly an unnecessarily complicated. Too many modules and features to easily manage.

Hi Aperture01, I feel your frustrations too and have posted numerous times in the thread:

I believe this is an iOS 7.0.* issue as I have experienced the same issue when syncing with a 3rd party application. Really hope iOS 7.1 fixes the issue. Have tried everything including a full reset but eventually the sync (red circle) issue returns...

I've tried everything! I've reset my entire phone. Deleted db files on my phone, Rebuilt my iTunes library, yet it still returns. Happens on my phone and ipad.

Did it bother to tell you WHICH items were on your phone that weren't in iTunes? I bet not. Is that really too difficult for a company of 10's of thousands of employees to figure out how to do? Wow. I mean they already put up the dialog box warning you about it.

Yes. I did another sync and the message popped up again. Finally, I opened iBooks and the book d/l from the app store. Re-synced a couple of times and the message has definitely gone now.

In fact, prior to this latest iTunes u/g it used to be a different message, it used to say that it couldn't sync The Bat (the name of the book) to my phone ebecause it couldn't be found.

I suspect that it was just a hang-over from when Apple separated books from iTunes. I actually purchased the book on my phone.

On another note (no pun intended :p ) iTunes STILL isn't updating song ratings and play counts from iDevices

my biggest issue with iTunes, aside from it taking forever to do basic stuff and being awful at managing a library larger then 20k tracks is the various progress bars it uses to work it's way through things like iMatch syncing volume leveling, etc. need a deeper level of detail and feedback so you actually know it is actually doing something instead of just hanging. Like even just letting you click on the progress bar and get an advanced progress showing it actually advancing through whatever song it is fixed on for hours at a time. This way when it crashes after 'song 11456 of 12304' you actually know which song caused the problem. Today I had to remove all 90 something songs with 'waiting' status from my library and insert them one at a time to find the one that actually crashes it consistently. Of course each one took 5 minutes to go through the 3 green checkbox process of 'waiting for apple to send match results'...

Will definitely be sending this file to apple care.

Apple should really just buy a company like JRiver and re-brand their media player as iTunes and then spin off a separate app for everything else.

This update fixes a problem that may cause iTunes to quit unexpectedly when a device is connected and improves compatibility with iBooks for Mac on OS X Mavericks.

Funny, never had this issue before I updated but it just happened to me now.

on my macbook pro 2007 with 4gb of ram Mavericks and iTunes are hell it slows down and creates this janky effect.

on my iMac 2013 8gb of ram with fusion drive, it's silky smooth.

i don't have a lot of music, just 10k songs, I know people who have easily 15x that, on their iMacs with 32gb of ram iTunes works just fine. iTunesMatch not so much.
Hey, how do I know the numbers of songs that are in my library?
I can only see the number of albums and the GB dedicated for the audio.
