iTunes was indeed a mess, but I don't much like the Music app either. So very many seemingly obvious things I always want to do that neither app can accomplish. We need a competing app that doesn't suck.

It's pretty freaking great, and I just got the base model. The color (gold) is stunning, and the display is absolutely mind-blowingly gorgeous to my unseasoned eyes. I can only imagine how nice those on the new Pros must be.

A great investment so far, and a wonderful deal at Best Buy after price-matching with Amazon and trading in my Surface along with my 9th-gen iPad. The iPad was great and will be missed, but this is on another level, especially for the price.
Nice choice! Glad you're enjoying it

I do miss iTunes on Mac as well, I use both Windows and MacOS and it is sometimes confusing to switch between the two.

Honestly Apple should have kept iTunes on the mac as a separate download.
Especially when iTunes and music app uses different format of library files to organise media. It’s a mess to manage both libraries Since there’s no “music” app on windows.
Love that Apple supports Windows longer than their own operating system... I'm still running High Sierra and I'm stuck with nearly obsolete iTunes 12.8.3.1
Only obsolete in terms of updating iOS or iPadOS. Most other features still work. Heck, sync even work on iTunes 12.6.5.3, even older than yours.

Apple today released an iTunes 12.12.6 update for windows, with the software adding support for the new iPad Pro and iPad and addressing security vulnerabilities.

The updated version of iTunes comes ahead of the Wednesday launch of the updated iPad and iPad Pro models. The iPad features an all-new design that does away with the Home button, bright chassis colors, an updated A-series chip, and a Touch ID power button, putting it nearly on par with the iPad Air.

The iPad Pro features an updated M2 chip, WiFi 6E, and a new Apple Pencil "hover" function that allows the display to detect the Apple Pencil when it is up to 12mm away.

iTunes for Windows can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store or from Apple's website.

Wait iTunes still exists?

Fairs, had a Mac for years.

Glad they integrated it with Finder

Wait, they still have iTunes?

Fair enough, although I’m glad they integrated it with Finder over the last couple of years.

The first version of iTunes for Windows I won't be installing since I finally swapped out my nearly decade-old Surface Pro 2 for an M1 MacBook Air 😔

Right on and lucky you. Myself ... I'm still considering what my next move would be to be quite honest:
HP Zseries with T500 + eGPU or M2 Pro MBP 14" after Xmas if RIOT games software games are all supported on macOS?

it's a joke iTunes still exists. Why no Apple Music app for Windows? If Apple want to compete with Spotify they need to do it. I'm not using iTunes and paying the hiked prices!

I've downloaded and very happy for it.

Personally I don't mind Apple Music but there are some software titles and match that I just prefer to OWN myself outright. I wasn't born of the new school stream school and there are some titles for artists now old from R&B, Motown, Jazz, Funk and Disco that I'd rather full royalties (not a %, even if Apple pays the highest of %'s of all streaming houses) to the artists or the owners of their hard work.

I mean although now you can own a % of art, you still cannot hang a section of graphical classic art on your wall and appreciate it in full, right?

The only thing I miss about it was the era of downloading and owning music from the iTunes Store. Streaming can get messy at times when music is removed and the files are re-matched to other versions that we're not originally in your library. Apple Music would be perfect if they let you manually match non-Apple Music songs in your library to songs in the Apple Music catalog.
this! plus if allowed you to upload ALAC files and not just AAC, I'd be much much happier with the service.

I'm a stickler for getting specific masters in my collection, and having originals 'match' remasters, or random songs off a greatest hits album is a pain in the ass. or partially matched albums (woof)

"Com Truise - In Decay"
Great choice!
Seriously half of those albums in the picture I have myself.

Air - Great chillout electronica that's been in my relax playlist for over a decade.
Boards of Canada - I don't think they've ever made a bad track, great electronic chill music
Com Truise - Not too familiar but I learned about them on Pandora long ago, mainly love their single
Flying Lotus - Great tracks in GTA and Sleeping Dogs, very "3am on adult swim" vibes
Grimes - I love the music video for Kill v. Maim and wanna chop a Ford Windstar and paint it pink :p
J Dilla - A huge selection of his music is on adult swim and I love "Mash"

Too late. With the price hike I'm simply not interested in ever going back to Apple Music.
Both Apple Music and Spotify are $9.99/mo. Apple Music offers lossless high quality audio included in this price and Spotify does not. Am I missing something? Was there a recent price hike or something for Apple Music?

How could I not notice "Music has the right to children"!?!?
Maybe my favourite electronic music album ever and my favourite album to keep in the background while I work.

iTunes on Monterey works ok for me, music videos aside, but I can use Music on my iPad for those. As far as I can tell everything else works fine.

I'm a vinyl collector and often record and add tracks to iTunes. Everything shows up fine in the Music app on my other devices. I have an iTunes match subscription, in case that's relevant.

Too bad Apple doesn't try to trim down and remove the bloatedness that's iTunes for Windows. Slightly better for some file management and backups than using 3rd party software. iTunes file management to organize media files still stinks esp. if you have relatively a large library of files.

its funny because theres other threads with people begging for "classic" bloated itunes to come back to MacOS
