I just want to see an announcement:

"Apple releases iTunes X.x., a major update that fixes millions of bugs, annoyances, flakey behaviours, and isn't a pile of total crap and a nagging advertising platform to try and get you to pay £15 a month for music you've already bought (a.k.a. "Apple Music") and just bloody works. Again".

The hatred for apple amongst so many of you who continue to use apple products is truly pathetic. Only a fool would continue to use a product they hate. These days there are many alternatives, so to see such a rant as this speaks more for the **** of the user than apple.

In all the years, I have never had a major issue to iTunes. I love it. I use it daily and I use many of it's features. No product is perfect, but iTunes is simply fabulous. If you have problems, I'd strongly suggest the fault is with you, one way or the other, and you should move on to another platform instead of bitching irrationally here!

I see so much hate for iTunes yet I don't have any issues with it? It's been mostly trouble free and fast.

I don't know what I'm doing differently as I use it quite heavily.

People that bought a Windows machine.

I have not been able to keep my podcasts in sync between iTunes and my iPhone for a very long time. The syncing seems to be out of whack with more episodes kept on iTunes than on my phone. Also do not like the 'Saved' feature that copies podcasts from my phone to iTunes even though I have listened to those episodes and chosen to delete them after they have been listened to.

I would love to see this fixed because everything else on it works like a charm for me.

I just upgraded to iTunes 12.6.2, but when I open it, I get "Checking iTunes Library" for 2-3 minutes, followed by a brief "Updating iTunes Library", then iTunes quits. (OS is macOS 10.13 (17A306f))

But you can re-download purchases Apps on iOS. Go to the App Store and tap Updates and then at the top, Purchased.
Yes try doing that in iTunes on a computer that has no internet. Then try to restore a previous version of an app that never made it to your computer because of this "feature".

There's this bug, I am not sure if it pertains to you, but whenever I search for music in the iTunes music store (search bar on the top right), sometimes, right after I hit enter and search for the artist/song I want to find, it automatically switches back to my music library. So I have to go to the music store and search again...

I spent about two weeks combating iTunes 12.6 so that I could edit multiple albums/genres etc and SAVE the change.
I am combating faulty iTunes sync from time to time.

Perhaps I am in the opposite side of this world.

Likely Only when monopoly is not existed. Sometimes, no matter how much hate we have, we have no choice. iTunes is such a thing.

My tongue is rather clearly in my cheek here, which appears to have sailed over folks' heads.

iTunes user interface is an overcomplicated mess. They could well do with addressing that, at least.

Remember when you had to pay for a program that converted audio to MP3?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Me too, I love iTunes. I just hope that they put Apple Music as a separate app - so many reports on MacRumors of existing iTunes libraries getting deleted when cancelling Apple Music etc. This is what has kept me from subscribing to Apple Music even though my phone provider EE offers Apple Music for 6 months or 12 months free etc. Interestingly, EE now offer the Apple TV as a add on, on your phone contract!

How can I update?! When I click "Check for Updates" it says there's an update but when I click "Download iTunes" it takes me to Mac App Store where there is no iTunes update... also no Sierra 10.12.6 update in my Mac App Store. What the heck?

I'm on 10.12.5 as we speak.

EDIT: it seems that a restart helped. Now the updates do show up for me.

I just updated the windows version of iTunes and noticed right away that 12.6.2 added support for higher resolutions like the 4K/2160p display on my HP Spectre x360 15" (2017). It no longer looks fuzzy and text is very sharp/clear with vibrant colors on the app icons. Definitely not a minor update for me. :)
