It's not plastic, the only part that has a "plastic" like look to it is the display window. The brushed metal has been abandoned for a cleaner sexier grey with slight grandient. Personally I love it.

Yeah, requires restart. I think it's because of the phone driver. Damn Motorola..

Yeah, think so too.

BTW.. this new look of iTunes 5.... Think it will be a sneak preview of Leopard's new GUI design?

When I get to the Download page, it doesn't give me a link. Could someone copy and paste one for those unfortunate ones who cannot?

come someone confirm if this requires a restart?

It does. And ugly? I think it's beautiful! iTunes 4.9 was feeling cluttered. This feels sleek. And maybe this has been here before, but has anyone noticed the search results in iTMS? It's awesome!

LOVE the nested playlists on remote servers. This is definitely one thing I was looking for. Now we'll have to see if it works on my clamshell iBook, which is definitely below spec.

Mail 2.0 looks better than this! I'm glad to see they tied some of the Tiger/Jaguar-isms into iTunes, but the square display and the gray plastic look like crap.

I also had the podcasts being in my library, keep my Podcasts away from my music!!

I find myself getting crankier as I age...

First question: What did they break, or what DRM wonderfulness did we get this time?

Second question: Features! How about gapless playback?! I've been asking for this for years.

Plastic like Mail 2.0? I like the brushed iTunes interface!

Obviously plastic is ugly.
And I've got some serious bugs to share my librairy : my friends can listen to me but they don't even appear on my computer...

the installer for my XP box encountered a problem during the install, it finished but there was a QT installer issue and now i can't even open iTunes!!! eek. Hope my library doesn't get messed up :( :(

update: tried to reinstall with the set up installer and error message pops up: "1607: Unable to install installshield scripting runtime." Does anyone know how to fix this?

Eugh. It's the Mail 2.0 of music players. I like the fact the window can get more stuff into a the same area, but I'm not coping well with the blue playlist section, squared off sides, and extreme shadows on the buttons..

I think the infamous Mac OS X UI inconsistency debate now has another piece of evidence in favour of the "Apple don't care any more" argument.

That said, the new search mode is excellent, and it seems a bit nippier than iTunes 4 here, so not all's bad.

Gapless playback in iTunes isn't a problem.

iTunes / Preferences / Audio

Enable "Crossfade Playback" and set the slider to 0.

Enjoy.

It's kind of a shocker for the new look. Seems like it went a step back visually.

Adjustment is all I need.

Cheers Apple!

The Nano looks sweet too.

Very nice - I'm downloading a Harry Potter book as we speak - the price is right compared to her CD's. :D

You're a better person than I. Sorry, just can't justify spending that kind of money on an audiobook. Perhaps if they sold them for the same as the paper versions.

Their server is getting hammered. C'mon guys let me have some!
You think you have it bad... :(

Edit: And it's not getting any better...

All i can say is that the re-design looks AMAZING, hope they change Safari and Finder to the plastic look, its much more modern very easy on the eyes,

Has anyone else noticed that Quicktime 7.0 (final) for Windows is now available?
I would just like to say that it's about time.

UI Changes

Anyone notice that there aren't button on the top left portion of the Preferences window? It's driving me nuts, it just looks... wrong. Plus I'm not used to closing those types of windows by pressing "Okay".
